There are a lot of Coney Island restaurants to choose from in the Detroit area but you should make it a point to visit this one! When first stepping into the place we were immediately greeted with “sit anywhere you like” from a friendly staff member making us feel like we’re part of the family from that moment on. The wait staff were friendly and helpful and ready to help and never to busy to stop by and see if you need anything. We ordered 4 completely different types of food and were very pleased with how well each dish was delivered. I was amazed the chef made all 4 dishes and all 4 were delicious – burger, stir fry, gyro, chili and breakfast sandwich. All were fresh, hot and timely.
Stop on in for a great meal and be part of the friendly family at L George’s, you’ll be happy you did!

My go-to-spot whenever I get back to Metro Detroit. The meal never disappoints and the grits are always hot and ready

What can I say? I’ve been exploring new food spots around our new location and came across El George Coney Island — and wow, this place is absolutely amazing! Not only can you get a classic Coney Island hot dog, but they also have delicious fish and chips and a full breakfast menu. Everything I’ve tried so far has been fresh, tasty, and served fast. On top of that, the prices are super reasonable — great food without breaking the bank. Definitely a new go-to spot!

The wait staff was friendly. Thats it for the positive part. The food was horrible. I sat at the counter and watched a person cook everything and not season one thing. No salt, No pepper, only put some oil looking fake butter on the grill. Hash browns cooked on one side and never flipped. Crisp on one side mush on the other. Eggs almost done just not completed. I wouldn’t bother stopping here. Lots of nearby alternatives that are much better.

The lady who took my order, had by far the worst attitude I’ve experienced. Ordered something a certain way, she changed it, so she could charge me more. Ordered a BREAKFAST burrito, didn’t even ask me if I wanted eggs inside. *SIDE NOTE*McDonalds breakfast burrito comes with eggs. I don’t understand why yours doesn’t, but it isn’t a BREAKFAST burrito. Had to come home and cook some eggs just for it. Stopped here in a middle of a snow storm, I was better off going to Taco Bell.

Everything was perfect every time we come to Michigan. One of the must have meals is to get Coney Island. Great customer service

Ordered a super chicken sandwich, fries, and a Coney. The pita was loaded up enough I had to eat half of it with a fork before I could safely fold it and pick it up. It the chicken wasn’t charred so much it would have been 5 stars. The Coney was excellent and the chili was top notch. The fries were meh, unseasoned and standard frozen food service style. The TV volume was blasting to cover up also blasting, mostly static radio station that was playing on the overhead speakers.

I gave this place another chance, and it was a mistake. On the morning of 1/28/2025, I visited your Northwestern Hwy, Southfield, MI location, and the experience was unacceptable. The two women at the front counter greeted me with such blatant attitude that I immediately felt unwelcome. When I simply asked if you served julienne potatoes, one of ladies looked at me with pure disdain. While waiting for my order, I noticed Fox News playing on the TV, and at that point the message felt pretty clear I was not welcome in your establishment. Because of the hostility and overall discomfort I experienced, I will absolutely never patronize this restaurant again.

Restaurant is exceptionally clean and was decorated for Christmas. It appears the majority of their business is carry out. We ate there and the food is served in to-go containers, which we were not expecting, but was fine just the same. Food was good and what you would expect at a Coney Island.
