Only one other family besides my wife and I in the restaurant at approximately 11:45 AM. Food was flavorful to some degree, but the soup and entre was room temperature; why? The server was very polite and with the appropriate amount of attention. $44+ experience. Not on my top 10 list.

This was my party’s first visit to this restaurant, and unfortunately we were underwhelmed by the food we received for the price that we paid. While I would certainly go back to give them another chance if invited to go with friends or family, I won’t be suggesting to go back when my friends and I looking for food options in the Raceland area.
I’ll also state that my friends who own a business in the area love going to this restaurant for lunch and race about their lunches at Kyoto’s.
The good:
The waiter was polite, professional, and understanding. The Gyoza, pork dumplings, that we got pan fried were good. My party all agreed that we wish they would have been cooked a little bit longer, but they were more than acceptable. The crab puffs were also fine. Well, I don’t feel that the fried rice was worth an additional $1.50 on top of what is charged for the blackened tuna, the fried rice was decent with a little extra teriyaki sauce on it.
The not so good:
The kyoto house roll just wasn’t to my liking, and we were all underwhelmed by it, given that it’s supposed to be their signature roll for the establishment. Please reference my photo, the amount of meat and veggie inside of the roll is far less than you would expect for a $18 roll. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a roll from any sushi or hibachi restaurant that had so much rice in it. It was simply impossible to eat in one bite. Which would have been fine if it were because of the amount of other ingredients in the roll but it was just 85% rice.
My friend asked the waiter for semame sauce for his bento box and was informed that they didn’t have sesame oil unfortunately which was surprising to us.
The bad:
The Blackened Tuna was a real let down. I expected to get a steak of tuna when I asked the waiter about the blackened tuna, but what I got was little nuggets of tuna that were maybe a third of an inch thick; however, this was not the truly bad part about the blackened tuna. This tuna had so much pepper or blackening seasoning on it that all of us that tried it were overwhelmed by the amount of pepper. It was super spicy just from the amount of pepper on it.
I’ve had blackened tuna numerous times, but I’ve never experienced anything like what was prepared for me last Friday. If I ever go back to Kyoto’s, I’ll order anything else on their menu before getting the blackened tuna again.
The atmosphere:
There were cases of beer and other beverages stacked up in plain view at the transition point between the front and kitchen area.
The other wait staff were stationed at a middle table visibly counting their tips along with stacks of papers, napkins, and other items.
While this would not stop me from visiting here again, these are items that would have docked points for performing a mystery shop.

I don’t know how I missed this little gem but I’m happy we decided to stop here for lunch. The service here is excellent. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The food was awesome! We will definitely return next time we’re in town.

I highly recommend the smoky mountain roll with soy and I also always get a cucumber salad and that my go to order! Me and my boyfriend love getting takeout dinner here, we’ve never dinned in to eat so I can’t answer for atmosphere but customer service over the phone is always nice and helpful and food is always pretty good for the most part no matter what we’ve tried. My boyfriend personally likes the steak hibachi box

The server was super nice. The food came out really fast and almost all at once. We ordered a tempura appetizer that came just after the soup and salad. Soup was flavorful. Salad was as expected. Tempura was plentiful but a little undercooked on the veggies. I got a hibachi meal and it was good. Had to ask for the yum yum sauce, lots of MSG, veggies crunchy, nothing included in the rice or noodles but plenty of shrimp for the price. Husband got deluxe sashimi dinner and had to remind them that the menu says it comes with soup and salad. Sashimi was really thick and FRESH! Had to ask though for wasabi and ginger. A maybe for returning to this restaurant. Note that the menu prices on Google info menu pictures are wrong. Add $2 to everything. Nice atmosphere.

This is one of my favorite Sushi restaurants. It’s the only one of it’s kind locally and they set a very high standard for anyone thinking about opening another in the area. The rolls are enormous and their prices are average for a Hibachi.

Unassuming due to outdated atmosphere. Very good food and service. Almost did not go in, but glad we did, and pleasantly surprised.

The prices were extremely high especially for a place out in the middle of nowhere. The service on the night we went was terrible, the girl had a terrible attitude and refused to come to our table. I waited for a drink refill for a very long time. We had to ask several times for things to be brought that should have been brought with the meal. I guess that’s why she was aggravated, she didn’t like having to go back several times to get things, but they were things that should have been brought initially instead of having to be asked for them. The food was okay, just okay, especially with the prices it was nowhere near worth what it was charged.
