Walking there in the biting NYC wind was tough, but seeing the owner working hard in his small booth at 12:30 AM was truly humbling. He was so kind and told me he works the night shift until 5 AM.
The portions were HUGE—maybe because it was late, or maybe he’s just that generous. The food was steaming hot, flavorful, and exactly what I needed to survive the night. To the hardworking brother running the cart: thank you for the warmth and the amazing meal. You made my first night in NYC unforgettable. Highly recommend!
Great lamb biryani! They make it with lamb meat chunks, not ground lamb or gyro meat, and they don’t skimp either. For $12, you can’t beat it. Friendly guy working the cart too. Ordered pickup on uber eats. Awesome flavor and generous portion. This is like at least 2 meals. Thank you!
On my first visit, I ordered a lamb kati roll ($6) and it was ready in about five minutes. In that time, I read all the newspaper images on the cart, so I was expecting something amazing — and that’s what I got.
The roll had seasoned, succulent, tender lamb and fresh vegetables in roti. The wrap was so full that it didn’t stay closed, so I ended up eating it all with a fork. It was so good that I went back a few days later and got a lamb rice platter ($12).
I was surprised the vendor remembered me because we didn’t speak much on my first visit. Even though it was 3 a.m., he got me chatting. Between the friendliness and the food, I’m sure this place has lots of return customers.
Anyway, the food — wonderful smells erupted when I opened the box. The meat was grilled but stayed tender and juicy. The sauce coated the vegetables but it was easy to mix it into the rice and lamb. It was phenomenal. This cart is great for lunch or dinner or to satisfy a late-night/early-morning craving.
Out of all the spots we visited during our five-night stay—including everything from hole-in-the-wall gems to high-end restaurants—this was my favorite meal.
The owner made me a lamb pita, and although I’m usually not a fan of lamb, I have to say this was the best I’ve had in a long time. The pita was packed with flavor.
The owner was incredibly welcoming and kind to us. I’m so glad I was able to get a picture with him. I know that when I return to New York, this will definitely be a must-visit spot for me.
