The host whose name I unfortunately forgot (but she’s in the picture) seemed bubbly and energetic maybe a little too fast-paced. My wife originally ordered three meals for us and our son, but we quickly changed it to two after our son said he already ate. We told her to remove one meal, and when my wife asked if she had everything correct, she confidently said yes.
A few minutes later, she returned to say the kitchen mixed up the order and it would be fixed in about five minutes. At that point, we already suspected the mistake wasn’t the kitchen it was her.
After waiting 24 minutes, we received only one meal. It was clear there was still an issue. Instead of admitting the mix-up or apologizing, the host insisted that the order was exactly what we told her, which came off very rude and unprofessional.
She eventually got the manager, who was kind, apologetic, and took $4-$5 off the meal. The discount didn’t really matter to me especially since it didn’t make up for the long wait or the experience of watching multiple tables who arrived after us get their food first.
Once the order was finally corrected, my wife enjoyed her steak, eggs, and shrimp, and my Salmon fried rice was actually very good.
However, as a first-time customer, I was definitely not happy with the overall experience. Great food, but the service needs improvement.
We had the La Rhumba Roll and the California Sunset Roll. Both were delicious. The next time we return, we will try some other items on the menu.
The initial greeting from the host wasn’t the warmest, but my server more than made up for it. She was sweet, attentive, and really on point. I ordered the Drunken Tiger Roll and the Hip Hop Roll. Let’s get the “bad” out of the way first — the rolls didn’t taste as fresh as I’d hoped. That said, the flavor combinations were on point. The smoked salmon and unagi pairing was a hit, and the yellowtail worked surprisingly well with the spicy tuna sauce.
They also have daily drink specials — I snagged a $4 SweetWater 420, which was a nice touch. The vibe inside isn’t anything fancy, but it’s clean, friendly, and laid-back. You can tell the kitchen staff takes pride in both flavor and presentation.
I also got The Falcon Roll to go (gotta support anything ATL). All in all, if you’re in the Cumberland area and craving sushi, Kuroshio is worth checking out.
