Came in for lunch this afternoon for the first time. First impression, the restaurant itself was clean and inviting. The service however, was extremely poor. Our server made it apparent he did not want to be there. We had to ask for water multiple times, as well as plates and utensils. He didn’t seem to want to acknowledge us at all or make eye contact. Now, the food was great. We ordered the Hot Mama roll and the Shaggy dog roll, and both were exceptional. The Kani salad was a nice and refreshing appetizer, and the Spicy Miso ramen hit the spot. The only downside was the Chicken Fried Rice, which was pretty dry and bland. Overall, the food made up for the poor service. We will definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Everything we ordered was so good! My son and I both ordered two different kinds of Rawmen, and both were probably the best we’ve ever had. My husband ordered the Kudogi Tuna tower and the tuna was so fresh! My other son ordered the steak bento box, he said it’s probably the best steak he’s ever had! Everything came out really quickly and was delicious!

Great local spot for Ramen, very good, fair price, staff are amazing. Parking can be a challenge at times. Recommend a Bentobox for lunch, Miso Ramen is great and for something lite but filling try one of the Yaki noodle dishes, which has beef, chicken and shrimp in a smooth flavorful sauce. Buns are mini sandwiches, but very tasty.

!!Honest review for Kurogi Ramen & Sushi!!
Conveniently located next to Harvest in Northlake.

Food: 3.8
Pros: Good selection on the menu. The Crab Rangoons were good. Thin and crispy could use a little more crab flavor. Not overpowering on cream cheese taste. The sauce compliments it well. The fish in the sushi/poke bowl was fresh. Pork was cooked well in the ramen and I like that it was seared. Noodles themselves were also delicious.

Cons: Rice was undercooked on our sushi & poke bowl (you can tell by the picture of the tuna roll.) Too much bite. This what killed the score for me. Rice is the most important factor! Broth in ramen didn’t hit. Had a pungent smell/after taste. Hard to eat. The egg in the ramen didn’t have a great flavor. I didn’t like how the scallions were cut in the ramen, thin & stringy made it difficult to chew. Visually the ramen bowl was mid. Wish they offered different types of noodles in their ramen dishes. Watch out for the wasabi in the poke bowl, occasional blast of heat in the bowl (inconsistent). No lunch specials which is typical for a place that shuts down between lunch and dinner.

Service: 5.0
Staff was friendly and prompt. We were in/out within 30 minutes of being seated. Everything we needed was already at the table. Granted we came at the end of the lunch hour.

Ambiance: 5.0
Clean & decorated well on the inside. It’s in Northlake to be expected. Nice bar area. There’s also a great outdoor seating area.

Overall: 4.0

I was quite disappointed with the katsudon I ordered. Unfortunately, it didn’t resemble an authentic katsudon experience. The dish was very bland overall, almost like a bowl of plain rice, and the meat itself seemed unseasoned, lacking flavor. As someone familiar with Japanese cuisine, I had higher expectations for a Japanese restaurant. Additionally, the floor felt quite sticky, which affected the overall dining experience.

From the moment you walk in you are greeted with smiling staff and quickly seated. The waiter was very polite and quick at tending to our needs. Can’t get over the deep fried sushi. . . So good! Great change to food in the area! Reading the other reviews about how nasty the ramen was confused me. It was delicious!! Both me and my sister got different ramen bowls and did not regret it!

This was actually my first time trying real Ramen versus something a snapped in four squares and boiling it in a pot while using some sort mystery season to flavor. So I have nothing to base this review on, other than that. I ordered the crab rangoons, Miso ramen bowl(pork belly) and a shrimp tempura roll. All was very good. Everything was fresh and tasted well. Staff was very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant was very quiet, we did come late afternoon so not sure if that is normal. Overall I was very happy and it had opened me up to trying more food like this!

My only thing is I wish they came to the table just a tad more often. They gave us (my son and I) chocolates and me a rose for Valentine’s Day it was definitely extra for customer service and the experience I very much appreciated it.
Food was great and I had their margarita and it was really good. Definitely will come back t was a great experience

Waited 40 minutes for carry out because “only 1 sushi chef was working”. Okay, that’s fine, no worries.
Get home (5 minutes away) and my minuscule $9 calamari appetizer is cold, rubbery, and fishy. Absolutely worst calamari I’ve ever had. Frozen fish sticks would be better. $16 tuna tower is nothing bf like the photos and has 3 paper thin slices of avocado on it. I’ll drive to Roanoke for Foster’s before I come back here. $68 for a sushi roll, bento box, calamari, and tuna tower.

I went here for the first time Friday Nov 29th. I loved it. It is a great place to just sit and talk while enjoying good food. My favorite was the sweetheart roll.

It is a long way from my home but I plan to go back as soon as I can.

The service is friendly. The atmosphere is very cozy. This is the perfect place to take a friend, a date or your spouse.
