I recently visited Kupel’s Bakery in Brookline, and it was an absolutely awesome experience! From the moment I walked in, the smell of freshly baked bagels and pastries made my mouth water — and the taste definitely lived up to the hype.
The bagels were perfectly chewy on the inside with just the right amount of crispiness on the outside, and the variety of flavors and toppings was impressive. I especially loved how hearty and satisfying the sandwiches were — you really get great value with generous portions. Cream cheeses (including some fun flavor options) paired amazingly with the bagels. ❤️
The staff were friendly and helped me pick out some great choices, and even though the bakery was buzzing with other customers, service stayed efficient and pleasant. The atmosphere has a cozy, local charm that makes you feel right at home.
Overall, I’d highly recommend Kupel’s to anyone who loves quality baked goods — it’s a classic Brookline spot that delivers delicious bagels, tasty pastries, and just a really great local bakery vibe. I’ll definitely be back soon! ✨

Great local place for bagels and baked goods. Can’t go wrong with any bagel/cream cheese combination. Good lox and smoked salmon. Sometimes I stop by and get bagels for my coworkers which is always a crowd favorite. Only issue is when you order sandwich sometimes there’s so much onion you can’t taste anything else even after picking it off which is just not my
personal preference. Definitely a must try brookline staple!

Affordable and tasty spot for a quick bite! We tried The Prudential on a tomato basil bagel with garlic cream cheese – definitely recommend getting it toasted, the texture and flavor were spot on.
The cinnamon rolls had a lovely cinnamon flavor and were a nice sweet treat. The hot chocolate was decent, though nothing extraordinary.

What a nice little bagel shop. What really impressed me about this place is the service, large portions and the very fair pricing of goods. To be honest after having NY bagels, these don’t seem as chewy in the middle, but for Boston they are good. Also, I’ve bought a chocolate croissant. The croissant didn’t have that flakey buttery texture of a typical French style croissant. But, I will say they’ve made up for it as it was huge. The bagel and the cream cheese filling was very generous as well. If you want good value and good portions this is a place to go to.

Came in off a red eye Saturday morning and this was an easy 15 minute drive from Logan and was open at 6am parking right there. Food was incredible and coming from Denver – cheap! A half dozen bagels, a lox sandwich, chocolate AND cinnamon rugalech, almond macaroons and a big cappuccino for ~$60 staff was super friendly. Highly recommend

Their bagels have a good chew and are a decent price. They have a small table inside and a bar area to inhale your goodies quickly. There are also tables outside.
I would skip the cappuccino/latte, which was water despite looking creamy, and go across the street instead for a coffee at Tattes.

Great bagel spot in Brookline. They have a wide variety of bagels, cream cheeses, toppings, and sandwiches. Everything I have had was good–I especially like the build your own option: sesame bagel, Jalapeño cream cheese, and green olives. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Would highly recommend!

Short: bad food could be fixed by good service, but bad service cannot be fixed by great food, more over if it was not delivered.
Long: Great bakery. Really good bagels and sandwiches. Unfortunately, the management response to a mistake turned a good experience into a frustrating one.
I placed a Grubhub order for half a dozen bagels, lox cream cheese, and a Cleveland Circle sandwich. The food total was $38.47, about 18% more than buying in person, but I was fine with that. After tax, Grubhub fees, and an $8 tip, it added up quickly to over $54.
The driver actually arrived early, which was great. But when I opened the bag, the Cleveland Circle sandwich was missing. That was the main item I ordered – everything else was optional.
I called Kupel’s, and the person who answered sounded agitated right away. I explained that the sandwich was missing and asked if they could make a new one and deliver it. Instead, he said he would just refund the sandwich. He then suggested that if I wanted the sandwich, I could place another order for some bread and he would substitute it with the sandwich and deliver it – sounded like shady casino payouts in Korea. During the call, he also called me rude and processed the credit without really discussing options.
The problem is that placing another order means paying Grubhub fees and another driver tip, all because of their mistake. That doesn’t feel fair. Years ago, if a pizza place forgot an item, they sent the driver back out. Simple.
I still like the food a lot. I just wish the customer service handled the situation better

Came in for an early morning breakfast. I ordered the “Kenmore” a double egg sandwich with cheese, tomato and onions. I also ordered a croissant and a chai latte.
I don’t really know what I was expecting, but raw onions wasn’t it. Luckily they were extremely easy to remove, indeed the biggest problem with the sandwich was that the eggs and the tomato were so slippery that both halves of the sandwich were basically constantly sliding around and threatening to fall apart as I ate it. I had to squeeze together the bagel and it was definitely an extremely tricky sandwich to eat.
The eggs, as far I could tell weren’t seasoned, and neither were the tomatoes. That being said, the bagel was knockout and the sandwich overall left me satisfied.
The croissant tasted much better than it looked, very buttery (almost too buttery), but it was just clearly underbaked. I’m not sure if that’s always how they make their croissants but there was no flake, no golden brown crisp, anything. But again inside it had layers and the flavor was there.
Chai was better than average, though overly sweet.
There’s barely any room in the shop itself so I enjoyed my breakfast outside. The service was also not great with another customer coming and bringing me my sandwich because they barely call out the order so even though I was standing feet away from the pick up counter I hadn’t heard when they were finished. Same with the chai.
So I know that sounds like a lot of quibbles and they are. So why the four stars? Why not lower? Because this place is a bagel shop and it was clear that the bagels they offered were handmade freshly made and definitely the everything bagel I had was the highlight of my meal.
If I were to go back, I would only order a bagel with cream cheese, or grab bagels for a morning meeting. I think in some degree the restaurant should be judged by what they primarily do, and as a primary bagel place I thought the bagel was great.
