What a great find! Authentic Asian food…Chinese, Thai, Japanese including amazing Sushi served here by welcoming staff. Our waitress, Tamara, was most gracious. Lunch specials with miso soup or salad were excellent….(see photos) huge portions…..General Tso’s Chicken with minimal breading and tasty orange sauce, Hibachi vegetable was perfect with nice low mein style noodles, Sushi…Alaskan (salmon) roll and eel roll were fantastic and served with creative flare. Great green tea and miso soup too!
Lunch: 2 Sushi rolls for$10, 3 for $15. Worth every penny. Nice warm decor. Full bar. Take out available.

This place is awesome, the staff is super friendly and we felt very taken care of. We ordered the Kumo delight to start and it had 2 of 4 different things and came with 2 sauces. It was very good. Then we split 2 good sized rolls both were excellent. Finally I ordered chicken hamachi and when it came our waiter brought us an extra plate without being asked in case we wanted to share. It’s the little things done that make this place so amazing. We don’t live here, however if we did, we would definitely make this our regular spot. Highly recommend!!!

My wife and I tried it for the very first time. I ordered Drunken Noodles with Pork Belly, a spicy Salmon sushi roll with Eel sauce (my favorite), fresh ginger and wasabi and a Miso soup. Wife got a Ramen with Chicken . Clear soup and an order of a crab Rangoon.. first: I was going to post about the sushi rollls being on the small side and go from there……….then it was time to taste!!! Main dishes were HUGE, VERY GENEROUS PORTIONS ( worth the price best in the business) the flavors where Amazing, flavor bombs, noodles are homemade, pork belly was well balanced…. BRAVO of a dish!!! My soup was also so delicious! My wife’s soup was also on point!!! Her dish was super delicious… not mad at the small sushi rollls at all because, the portion sizes are better than market norm and the flavors are top notch! I have found a new favorite…. We are lucky to have this place…. Well Done!!!

This restaurant is a pleasant surprise! I’ll be back more frequently when the beer license comes through. The presentation, the portions, and the tastes are simply fantastic. They have a full Japanese menu in Whitehall West Virginia! I was actually extremely surprised with the ambiance. It’s beautiful here.

It was our first time there and it was amazing. We tried two appetizers, a sushi roll and huge bowls of Roman. Leftovers reheated well and were just as good. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re up there!

Atmosphere- 4 stars- clean except the floors are a little sticky. Bathrooms are in a weird spot- shares access with kitchen. The overall look of the eating area is very nicely themed.
Service- 4 stars- our waitress was very attentive and friendly.
Food- 5 stars- Many choices on menu. We had a couple of appetizers- Buffalo wontons and Szechuan dumpling. Both were awesome!! I had the spicy ramen- probably one of the best ramen’s I have ever had!

Nice place, location is good but where it really stands out from the rest is the food.
The red curry chicken with rice is amazing! The smell alone is enough to drive a hungry person crazy, it’s just that good. Ask for it extra spicy if you like that, “It’s hot but I can’t stop eating it” feeling. It did not disappoint. I’ll be back!!

We stayed one night at Fairmont during our trip to Virginia Tech, Kumo is really a pleasant surprise for us. Three of us ordered Fried Tofu, Edamame, Miso Soup, House Salad and two Ramens. The food totally exceeded our expectations, the waitress (Macey) is friendly and warm-hearted and the atmosphere is comfortable.

I went to kumo before going to a movie one time, and since then have been back countless times. The employees know me and my friends by name and give us a great and rememberable experience every, single, time. I usually get one of three things that I enjoy but whenever I try something new it never fails to disappoint. I would 100% recommend Kumo Japan to absolutely anybody who wants to try something new!!!

Oct 3, 2025 6:00pm. Kumo was packed and electric. Kitchen and serving staff very busy, organized and friendly. Family of four. Dinner included Kumo Special(excellent), Mongolian Chicken(fantastic), Szechuan Chicken(awesome), and Thai Red Curry Chicken(Wow), clear soups, fried rice and noodles. Green Tea. All very very good. Our server was excellent with great personality. Atmosphere incredible. A family favorite restaurant. Generous portions with enough to bring home.
