Yes… the rumors are true. Gene’s Grinders is moving one mile east …
Reviews
Easy to miss, sad if you do!
Located just east of the Downtown monrovia sign on Myrtle and Walnut. First building on the corner. A hidden gem!!!
Wow!!!! That’s all I can say.
I just had the best meatball sandwich in Los Angeles and had to make this review and video to help highlight where they are located.
I lived in Monrovia for nearly 4 years and never ate here until today. I am only in town for one more week!!! I wish I had more time to eat here again!!!
The bread is so soft and fluffy, melts in your mouth. The ad I seen said they bake it fresh everyday.
The beef meatballs were tender, juicy and cooked perfectly. You literally couldn’t make it better.
The marinara sauce is what surprised me. Usually it’s too sweet or too salty but here at Gene’s Grinders it is perfectly balanced.
And last, the cheese. It melts like real cheese so it isn’t that fake plastic stuff at regular places. This is the real deal and I thoroughly enjoyed that freaking sandwich sheesh!!!!
100 out of 5 stars!!!
If I come back to Los Angeles I will definitely come back to Gene’s Grinders for a sub sandwich.
Amazing!!!
Video and pics provided.
Overall if you want a good sub and are in Monrovia, make sure you stop in.
Quick service, good value, and worth the stop. Will be back.
I came across this spot from an ad in Instagram one day. Thought I’d give it a shot and now whenever I’m feeling a solid sandwich this is my go to! Pictured below is a 6″ tuna with all of their toppings, 6″ meatball, 12″ pastrami grinder, and a 12″ combo. The pictures can’t describe how heavy these sandwiches are! Youre definitely getting your money’s worth plus fresh soft bread and fresh ingredients! On top of that, you’re getting amazing service! Shout out to Christian, had a great conversation with him and he even invited me to join him to train jiu jitus! Youre going to feel like home here!
I had the Milanesa ( breaded steak) as the Thursday special. Quality. Do yourself a favor and ask more from your sandwhich.
Recently had the hot roast beef dip. Ordered the small so I could eat the second d half later. Fail! I ate both sitting there outside. Fries were also hot and crispy.
I had the pastrami dip with a side of fries. Very good pastrami (tasty, very little fat), fresh white roll, fries served hot.
Surprisingly small store, 6 inside tables with outside covered patio seating.
Rough parking lot, not very pedestrian friendly.
Recommended.
