This is such a relaxing place to have dinner. Service is great, the food is great, and its always quiet enough to have a conversation without loud background noise.

This was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had with Japanese cuisine in a long time. Upon entering the parking lot, you are greeted by this beautiful, oversized, red Sumo wrestler. Walking into the door, there is this double-sided fish tank full of large, colorful fish encased in the wall. We were immediately greeted and provided a comfortable booth on the side that was a combination of a modern restaurant and sports bar. I was told that the other side of the restaurant was hibachi style for larger parties. We ordered our drinks (sweet tea) and my partner ordered our appetizer since he’s been there before. I have to say I was a bit taken back when we were brought canned Lipton tea. I declined (nothing wrong with it but I was craving a brewed sweet tea) and replaced it with Sprite. The disappointment was quickly forgotten when I bit into the appetizer: duck Spring roll. It was the most amazing tasting dish I’ve had in quite a while. (Sidenote: the duck Spring roll doesn’t taste well reheated at home so enjoy it while you’re there.) We ordered our entrees (see pics) that came with Miso soup and a salad. We ate until our hearts and bellies were content. We went on a Tuesday night so the crowd was to a minimum but I was told that towards the weekend, the place fills up rather quickly. With the delicious food and great service, I understand why. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. You will not be disappointed!!

I love eating here with my partner and friends! We’ve been coming here since it opened, and the food is always outstanding. The thai tea, hotpot udon, duck spring rolls, and kume specials are delicious. Plates get cleared everytime. The atmosphere is also beautiful. Service is great, and the people there are very friendly.

I love going for sushi and exploring the menu. The hostess was friendly. The dining room and seating is brightly and beautifully done. The server had good recommendations and was prompt and efficient. The sushi was incredibly fresh snd prepared with expert precision. It is now one of my favorite places to go and am excited to bring my friends and family in the future!

Living in the part of the US where there’s lots of quality sushi and izakaya, I can tell you Kume does not disappoint. Unassuming spot in Mill Creek, South Portland strip mall. Pacing of food and beverage was prompt and delivered in a nice rhythm. Quality fish and fabulous flavors and authenticity. Enjoyed this hidden little gem!

I got the sushi deluxe.
No stinky fishy smell, seems fresh. Rice a bit dry and breaks apart when eating sushi. Not very sticky, has a hint of vinegar and sugar. $24 tuna roll has a good amount of tuna, other pieces have nice and long pieces on top, salad and miso soup was okay, nothing special. Salad dressing wasn’t creamy and is average when it came to the flavor. Employees was friendly, inside looks great. Overall, it could be better but the fish itself self is good. 7.3/10. Rating would be higher if it wasn’t for another local place with better creamy dressing for the salad and overall cheaper price with same sushi quality.

Cool menu and new things to try. The sushi is great and the drinks are even better, which is saying something. Ask your server about the cocktail with milk in it….better than the menu gives it credit for!

Wow! This place is stunning! The ambiance was great but the food and cocktails were even better. Prices were reasonable as well! Can’t wait to make this a new go-to spot for us! Welcome to the neighborhood 🙂
