I’ll need to come back and actually try some barbecue as this round went with family and tried the broasted chicken. This seems like a great small town option for some bar food. The broasted chicken was good and the broasted potatoes were decent too as they always need sour cream which was extra. The table had three orders of the broasted potatoes and it all came together in one basket which was odd and slightly lazy. We would have preferred to have it separate. My husband ordered sour cream but got ranch instead. They had the typical small town Iowa beer options (no blue moon though) as expected as they are going to serve what the locals want. No beer menu at the tables. Atmosphere is typical bar vibes and the sound echoes did make it hard to hear others in the large area in the back. Buffet on Thursdays and also a car show on Thursday’s- I think once a month – which is a good reason to leave home and take your fun car or check out the cars there.

Excellent food, excellent service. Had the grilled pork loin sandwich, broasted chicken breast and fries, Texas Tator (pictured), and six bone-in smoked wings (pictured). The up-spiced bbq sauce was just right (recommended by our super-nice waitress). The smoked peach pie was tasty, as well. Well worth the short drive from Cedar Rapids or Waterloo.

Service, atmosphere, and food were all great.
This was my first time eating here and will definitely be back.
I stopped on a Thursday night and there was a lively atmosphere, but not busy as I stopped in beyond the typical evening dinner rush.
Waitress was friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable.
The prime rib sandwich was good and the fries, honestly, were the best fries I have ever had. Fries caught my attention? Yeah.
Good menu. I will have to try the BBQ soon.

I’ve had many people recommend Kula’s and finally decided to make a trip to see what it’s all about. There’s a large menu to accommodate everyone. They are known for their broasted chicken, pizzas, smoked meats, and sauces. Almost nothing includes a side, so keep that in mind when ordering.
I got a broasted chicken breast, side of coleslaw, and waffle fries for about $12, which I feel like is a reasonable price. You’ll want to come hungry, or plan on bringing home leftovers. Everything we tasted was so good, it’s definitely going to be a place the family comes back to.
The staff was very friendly and helped eachother to cover all of the tables and bar. We got our food really fast and we also didn’t have to wait long to have our checks rung up.

YUM! We went to Kula’s for the first time last night and got their Iowa chops. For ~$23 we got a chop, cheesy vegetables, a baked potato and a dinner roll. The chops were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Honestly, the best chop my boyfriend or I have ever had. We even ended up buying two bottles of their BBQ sauce because it was so good. The service was also great. They were busier since it was a Saturday night, but our waiter still checked on us several times and anytime we asked for something he got it to us quickly. The rest of their menu looked really good and we’ll be definitely be going back to check out their smoked chicken wing flights.

This is where you go if you want to see the locals rattle each other’s cages. Typical Iowa small town bar with food. I will say the food is elevated though due to the owners significant experience with BBQ. Feel free to park the side-by-side out front & don’t be afraid to join in on the midwestern banter.

Very good pizza, not the best I’ve ever had, but it was very good none the least. Their onion rings leave something to be desired though, very greasy, and a tiny portion for almost $9.00.
Wait staff was VERY friendly!!!!
