I’ve been craving doubles for the longest time, so I did a quick Google search and came across K&S Roti Shop & Jamaican Restaurant. I ended up driving a bit of a distance because I really wanted to try them out. I placed my order through DoorDash for pickup, which was super convenient.
Let’s start with the doubles — unfortunately, they were overly spiced. Instead of having that flavorful, balanced taste you look forward to, it was more of a burning sensation. I love spice, but this just overpowered everything else, and I couldn’t really enjoy the flavors underneath.
Now the roti with stew chicken? DELISH. That dish absolutely saved the experience. The chicken was perfectly seasoned with rich, comforting flavor. The sauce was so good and paired beautifully with the potatoes and soft roti. Every bite of that was satisfying and full of flavor.
Overall, I’d give them an 8.5/10. I was definitely disappointed by the doubles, but the roti and stew chicken won me back. I’d come back again — especially to give the doubles a second try.

Seriously, amazing and we have had Caribbean food from all over the state and this is seriously some of the best. Even the little details like the cabbage show how much love goes into every dish. We will be ordering again. Highly recommend.

Nice selection of West Indian snacks and drinks too. This place is the real deal, don’t hesitate to check them out.

I gave K&S a try by grabbing some takeout for lunch, and now I am a bit irritated with myself by not stopping by here sooner. The staff was as nice and helpful as could be as I acquainted myself with the menu, and the curry chicken and the doubles were absolutely fantastic! I look forward to popping in again in the near future.

Straight from Hartford . 10/10. First time trini food. Walked in smelt different new smell Trini!!! Owner patient helpful. My order: pelau rice curry chicken and jerk pork. Bussin. Open up a spot in Hartford. Thank you for my first trini food experience!!!

My husband went to get myself and my mother who are Trini born and raised … my mother is Indian mixed and we tried their bake and shark curry duck and pharata ( buss up shot ) roti and it was a total disgrace to the Trinidadian culture … its unfortunate that people who aren’t born and raised in Trinidad could not tell the difference between good and bad so they don’t know any better … but the customer service was poor … the curry duck was extremely bland and not even used with curry duck curry powder that Trinis use …. The roti was dry and thick and not fluffy and easy to tear as it should be …. The shark and bake was obviously frozen because no way the shark came out looking like a Patti and the veges were old and pineapple dry and the bake was super thin and not fluffy and crisp and fresh as it should be and then we got digestive snacks they were expired !!! It is not our job as a customer to check expiration dates !!!! The other reviews must be paid reviews because it was terrible and had the nerve to ask for a tip at the register ….

The only reason I’m giving them four stars is it because of only tried 2 things from them and I can honestly say I was not disappointed, there are not a lot of places around that serve roti, and knowing that I do not have to travel far to find some warms my heart, I had the boneless chicken roti wrapped, it was so much food and extremely delicious, flavorful, right amount of spice, I ate half and needed a nap lol. I also enjoyed the chicken patty, also very flavorful. I cannot wait to go back and try other items on their menu.
