I’ve been coming to Kreyol Kafe & Bakery since I was a junior in high school back in 2014. Over the past five years, after the owner had stepped down, the restaurant honestly went a bit downhill, so I stopped coming as often.
The other day, I decided to take my two-year-old out for lunch and made the two-hour drive from Lake Wales, where I currently live. When I walked in, I was genuinely shocked — the place looked refreshed, rejuvenated, and full of life again.
Then I looked to my right… and there she was — the owner. My face lit up with pure joy. I immediately let her know how excited I was to see her back. You could feel the difference instantly.
I ordered two lunch specials, a side of griot, rum cake, the new banana pudding, and lemonade — and everything was absolutely on point. The food tasted like the Kreyol Kafe I remembered: flavorful, authentic, and made with care.
Seeing the owner back and experiencing the food at this level again honestly made the long drive worth it. I’m so happy to say Kreyol Kafe is back, and I’ll gladly continue supporting and making the trip.

My 1st time trying food from Haiti and I have to say this was very good. I ordered the fried pork with beans and rice and a beef patty. All was cooked to perfection and made to order and the lady at the counter was very nice and answered questions that I had about the entree items on the menu. I will return again and try something different.

Okay I’m writing this post because I am genuinely over it.
Let me start off by saying I love this place but not enough to keep paying what I am paying. Anyways, since new management came in they switch some things around that genuinely irritate me. But I deal with it because they are the only Haitian restaurant that I know of the east side of town. They maintained their flavors which I’m really happy about but the portion sizes remind me of chipotle which eventually lead me to stop going there. So for one pork is very inexpensive. Prior to new management we got a reasonable amount of protein that fit the price (even though I felt it was STILL OVER PRICED). I can go to the Spanish restaurants, Chinese restaurants, and some Jamican restaurants and get double to triple the amount of food and protein for one plate in comparison to what they give. They try to substitute the extra protein with the huge slice of tomato and like 4 – 6 lettuce leafs which I don’t see the point in that. They give you a lot of rice because they try to fill you up with that and hope you don’t mind that they gave you 6 pieces of griot (but that’s true Haitain fashion because my mom always tried to just fill me up with rice as a kid smh). Anyways this is the only restaurant I go to where I spend 18 – 20 per plate and NOT be satisfied. On a better note they are very nice. The flavors are delicious and if they fix Their portion size they’ll be a great spot to go to. Prior to new management I literally spent $300 in 2 weeks their so if you want great flavor definitely check them out just ask for extra protein.

I had high hopes for this restaurant. Honestly the flavors were there and then I pulled out a piece of metal from a bite of food There weren’t too many options the day I went so no food display and no baked goods.

There’s some good food here. If you are familiar with Haitian food or West African food, I think you will like the flavor of the cooking here. The establishment is clean and they have a handful of tables inside. Ordering can be a bit awkward and slow. Not recommended while in a rush. People are polite, but I wouldn’t say the customer service great. Overall, a good option for real Creole food.

I been to so many Haitian restaurants from Canada to Miami. This place is the worst ever! Does not look inviting at all. Like the rice was not fully cooked, the sous pwa was so watery with no beans that I can literally swim in it. Put it on the white rice, the rice became saggy. The Macaroni gratin had no flavor, it looked like they stove cook it instead of putting the Macaroni gratin in the oven. Every Haitian understands that part!!! we called in 20 minutes prior to order our food. On purpose, we arrived in 30 minutes but still waited an additional 20 minutes. And for the macaroni gratin it was $12.50!!! Like you need to put down those prices on the menu. If I didn’t had time to cook my own food, this place would have never saw my face. Just looking at the food, I was insulted. Please do not ever disrespect the culture again. You guys should be ashamed! Nasty ever!

I would NOT recommend! I have no idea what we spent $50 on. It was not lambi. In fact calling our credit card company because we are a 100% positive that was NOT lambi. Looks like and taste like dry ham. The sauce poi is water and rice is a joke. We paid extra for pikliz and I thought they gave us coleslaw by accident. This was such a disappointment and I feel deceived.

This place is horrible now since it’s own by a new Owner I’ve been going to this place for years, year 2015-2016 was the best year Real authentic Haitian food and the staff was very nice and place look welcoming.only reason why this place now got a 4.0 review is because of the old customers from back then. I ordered White rice and chicken and another order of White rice and Legumes lady charged us almost $50 she gave me half yellow rice and half white rice I think it was “Manje Kouché” from the day before mind you I ask her for a Medium size she gave me 2 large she was trying to get rid of all the old food she cooked probably didn’t sale from the day before, one of these days you’ll have a Lawsuit coming Keep making people eat
“ManJe Kouché”. On top of that if you selling Garbage food your price and attitude shouldn’t be High, everything about this place is Trash save your money go to “Lakay” restaurant that’s on Woodbury or Just drive to the west Side you won’t be disappointed, I had to throw away $50 in the trash, this is my last last last time buying from y’all I keep giving y’all chances it’s same every time..

I am a UCF student and left home to attend. Because of this, I haven’t been eating Haitian food very often — only when I visit home. But I found this place and my God — the food is amazing and reminds me of home. It makes me feel more connected to my culture and it’s just so delicious. Plate in photo was $10.95.
