As a Thai American, honestly I would have never guessed that I would find an authentic Thai restaurant in Harbor City. Since the area is prominently non Thai or Asian, I had made assumptions about this Thai spot. I was wrong. I was so crazy wrong.
Krata is actually cooking Thai food with authentic flavors. I was impressed! Krata is creative with presentation and introduces new Thai dishes that I never tasted before that my critical Thai mom would approve.
Khao Soi with roasted duck breast, presentation was 10/10 along with concentrated curry flavors, both slippery & crunchy egg noodles, mustard greens and it was amazing. One of the best I’ve had. That roasted duck with crispy skin, yummy!
For anyone who has a fitness goal and wants a chicken breast with thai flavors, get their chicken satay. Basically it’s sliced grilled chicken breast that’s flavorful. If you want something more tender, get the grilled Pork Jowl/Cheeks because that Thai dipping sauce it is paired with is damn spicy but so addictive.
I noticed everyone ordered a different type of fried rice. I am so glad that I did. These are not ordinary types of fried rices. You can pick from their classic but have fun flavors like green curry, pineapple, crab, spicy basil but we opted for the red chili paste fried rice with fried shrimp. The presentation was magnificent and the flavors were wow. This spicy red chili thai fried rice with a mountain of fried shrimp. Loved the textures.
Eveyone talks about Tom Yum or Tom Kha Soup (coconut), it was first time trying Gaeng RanJuan Beef Soup. Loved it. The flavors are comforting and the beef was tender. It’s sour, spicy and great on a rainy day with steamed rice.
This restaurant is welcoming. The service is attentive. It’s a local restaurant that deserves more love and support. The restaurant is clean and spacious.
You can’t forget, you must order the roti with curry dipping sauce. So much fun to eat and dip into your curries and soup during your meal.

It’s my first time trying northern Thailand cuisine! This is their only location in the US. I’m glad I stoped by this restaurant called krata! I’m obsessed with Thai curry and all the food that I got was really good! The tomyum soup is soo sooo good! I love how it has a lot of seafood inside. The flavor is soo deep and delicious. I was shooked. I also loved the roasted duck curry!
Ambiance is nice and casual, The service is 10/10 the sever made sure we got the best dishes from appetizer to main course.

Squid. Neither raw nor overdone. Texture perfect and so is taste. Khao Soi noodles, chicken. Meat is perfectly succulent and juicy. Soup spicy a medium way as asked for, perfect heat. With lime, and perfect pickled vegetables the sour counterbalances on the tongue with the spicy in a grounding energy and dance. The crispy noodles and the soft yet firm chewy noodles dunked in soup, set on a small plate to again balance with the chicken and lime and pickled vegetables makes for a perfect course. The pad Thai with beef has similar assurance. Thank you to this restaurant.

TL;DR My favorite spot for authentic Thai food. BOGO Thai tea promotion. Spicy minced chicken ball and crispy combination seafood were standouts. Aromatic shrimp paste soup with beef stew had a light sour note and extremely tender beef, like beef noodle soup. Grilled fish salad was amazing and not fishy at all. I would absolutely get the fried rice again, portions are huge. Thai tea cheesecake with coconut ice cream was unique and delicious.
This is hands down my favorite spot for authentic Thai food. I have already been back twice and can easily see myself becoming a regular. They opened in August and focus on a modern take on authentic Thai cuisine. The food is excellent and the presentation honestly feels close to fine dining. They currently have a BOGO Thai tea promotion if you follow their social media. You can choose between Phuket or Bangkok Thai tea, very different flavor profiles but both are really good.
Highlights
The spicy minced chicken ball with northern chili and Thai herbs was really good. Savory with a nice level of heat if you enjoy spice. My partner finished this plate without hesitation.
Crispy combination seafood was not spicy, very crunchy, savory, and soft on the inside. There was crab inside, possibly more given the name, but it was done really well.
The aromatic shrimp paste soup with beef stew surprised me the most. It had a good amount of vegetables and that slightly sour, acidic note you expect from Thai soups. The beef was incredibly soft and tender, very similar to beef noodle soup. We had leftovers and I was genuinely happy eating it the next day for lunch.
Grilled fish salad with roasted chili jam was outstanding. The fish was grilled perfectly with a beautiful orange yellow exterior. Absolutely no fishy taste, just a really well executed dish.
E sarn fried rice with crispy tonkatsu is something I would order again. Huge portion with layers of flavor that were well balanced and not overpowering. We had to pack some up for the next day.
Thai tea cheesecake with homemade coconut ice cream was very pretty and uniquely flavorful. I had never tried coconut ice cream before and it reminded me of vanilla with a nice coconut kick. The Thai tea cheesecake was dense with that classic Thai tea flavor and paired extremely well with the ice cream. It really elevated the entire dessert.
The ambiance was great and works well for a family dinner, a date, or even dining solo. The staff was incredibly friendly. Highly recommend and I will definitely be back.

Amazing fresh Thai food that you should not miss if you’re in the area. So glad we found this place. We met the chef and the owner and told him we wanted Thai spicy green curry and he delivered. Every bite tasted of fresh lemongrass and amazing flavors. The waitress was very pleasant as well. The wall art is so nice and they were playing very pleasant music. Restrooms are clean.

Great place and great food. I have only tried the Papaya Salad and Khao Soi curry noodle. Both are very good and flavorful. I only hope that the portion of the salad could be a tittle bigger, although there were two large shrimps in it.
The Khao Soi was one of the best ones that I have tried at medium spicy. It was spicy enough for me and the spicy level did not get higher, so I was still able to enjoy it.

WOW! This exclamation is just the right answer for these excellent Thai food. We had Bangkok & Phuket Thai teas. They should be our new favorite. Then, main dishes are Red curry with chicken and the famous Shrimp Pha Thai noodle. All foods are very delicious. We will definitely come back with our friends.
