I had heard so many good things about Kraken and I was slightly disappointed when I visited for the first time yesterday. Our server was very kind and explained everything, but with how much hype there was surrounding this restaurant it didn’t really meet my expectations.
My sister and I shared a pound of their shrimp boil with medium heat. We added corn, sausage and potatoes, and the bread (for an extra price) which added some dimension to our overcooked shrimp. I just felt like there really wasn’t much flavor even though the food is supposedly marinated in the sauce. We also shared an order of the “Krak Fries” and those were also disappointing..
I would give it another chance, but also not dying to go back!

Came for lunch on a Sunday. The waitress didn’t preface the items they were out of(apparently it was a busy week), so 3 tries later, I settled on crab cakes as an appetizer and the Shrimp Blackened Tacos with Mexican street corn as my entree. My friend got the shrimp po boy. The crab cakes were great. I’d go back just for them. The tacos, however were a big miss for me. The shrimp was supposed to be blackened but had no blackened flavor to them. The slaw and crème were good BUT the cheese they use on the tacos was disgusting. It overpowered absolutely everything. Shrimp tacos don’t need cheese!! Especially if it’s a cheese that is too pungent and takes over the entire dish. I did my best to peel it off but it didn’t help. I eventually just ate the shrimp out of the taco with my fork and left everything else, including the corn. The corn was frozen corn that had been cooked to death so it was mushy on the cob. They piled it with another cheese that didn’t add anything to it. I took one bite and the mouthfeel was off putting and it didn’t taste good. I feel like I wasted so much food but it was genuinely inedible to me. I would go back based off of the crab cakes and would try something different, like one of the boils if they have my chosen items available to order. I’d say try them, you make like what you order, but I cannot recommend the blackened shrimp tacos or the street corn.

First time I ate here, had very good service (I think my server was the owner), super nice lady explained everything to me since I had no idea how to eat crab. Very good food. Second time, I got a guy who must have been working on his 40 yard sprint time with how fast he passed my table lol. I could barely get him to stop at my table for more than a few seconds, not sure if it’s because I was eating alone and he didn’t want to take the time or what. He asked me “You good right?” As he passed my table and by the time I understood what he said he was looking at me over his shoulder at the next table so I just said yea and waited for him to come back by to ask for what I needed. I’m guessing he knew the people at the other table as he was much more friendly with them. But he was pretty friendly when I was paying the bill. After I paid, I signed the receipt with the tip and when I looked up to give it back to him the guy was gone already haha, I had to give it to someone else. Rant aside food is very good, snow crab is great, get the krak sauce with it too. And go on Wednesday for half price on some of the crab. Overall solid place to eat if you get a good server.

Service was friendly
Food was below average for a seafood boil. We got the “Flavor-town” on everything, great choice.
**I REALLY WANT TO GIVE THIS RESTAURANT A 3.5/5**
Out of 10
Chicken wings 9.5 – perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned
Shrimp 9
Kraken fries 9
-I didn’t try the fries but everyone devoured them so thumbs up
Snow crab 7.5
Catfish po’boy 7.3
– small piece of fish, too much bread. Kind of dry but my brother said it was still good somehow. Honestly for $12 you can’t beat the price
Dungeness crab 5
-great presentation but way overcooked, meat gets stuck to the shell so you end up getting shredded crab meat
After tip we spent $200 which is fine but definitely have had better. I expected more

We had the sweetheart boil for $35. There’s a variety of flavors to pick from and also pick your spice level. We love going here it’s the best around. If you’re looking for good down home tasting seafood visit the Kraken!

This was my first time eating here. If I’m ever back in the area, I will be back to order more things from the menu. I had the fried gator, corn, and fried pickles. They were all delicious. Will probably try the shrimp boil next time. Great food, staff, and ambiance. Keep it up the good work!

This is an Update….see previous posts. I had to remove a star because the food was not up to par with my last 2 visits. The wings were fried well but the taste was decent, the okra was great. The chicken tenders basket was good and the shrimp Poboy was good as well. I may be back. I dont know. Heads up you may want to bring your own scale to make sure you get a pound of the seafood boil you order

First visit. Knowing the menu can make all the difference; having said that I ordered fried oysters but had the menu oysters half shell showing, that’s what she brought. Sent back and fried, those were great! Crab cakes were mostly filler, very little crab and burnt. She brought me their side of kimchi but charged a dollar for it, and it’s the store bought not homemade. Should’ve been charged for fried oysters combo with fries, was charged for oysters half shell and fries a la cart. Ordered crab legs, they were decent, over seasoned. In closing, I could’ve used a lil help with the menu, left a big tip so it’s not personal, maybe next visit will be better.
