If you’ve ever pulled into a restaurant parking lot, looked at the front of the building, and instantly thought, “Oh yeah… this is gonna be good,” then you already understand KP’s Place . It’s got that perfect rustic, no‑nonsense, “we’ve been serving real food for a long time” vibe — the kind of place locals swear by and travelers are lucky to stumble into.
I rolled in around 6pm on a Tuesday, right as things were starting to pick up. I’m in town from Illinois for business, and multiple people told me, “You HAVE to try the Maine lobster roll.”
Well… twist my arm.
This was my second lobster roll in two days, and honestly? Zero regrets.
I ordered the Maine lobster roll and a side of fried clam strips, because when in Maine, you go all in . The food came out fresh and hot — always a good sign. The lobster roll was packed with meat, tasted incredibly fresh, and hit that perfect balance of buttery, tender, and satisfying. The clam strips were crisp, flavorful, and exactly what I hoped they’d be.
Washed it all down with a Miller Lite, because sometimes simple is exactly right .
The staff were kind, patient, and super helpful — especially when I couldn’t decide which lobster roll to get. Shoutout to the guy and girl working that night for the great conversation and solid recommendations .
KP’s Place is absolutely worth the stop. Great food, great people, and that classic Maine charm that makes you feel like you found a local gem.

The food is fantastic, honestly, doesn’t even feel like it’s fried with how light the breading is! The seafood stew is my all time favorite, and the fried pickles and cheese curds, try them! The atmosphere is inviting and tastefully decorated. The employees always say hello and goodbye, and are quick to get food out!

KP’s Place is our go to spot for fried seafood and chicken. Everything is always perfectly crispy and delicious. Seriously the only chicken I want to eat in town.
And we go to the coast a ton in the Summer, but come back to Auburn to get scallops and haddock. Honestly the best and most reliable seafood!

Fantastic food and great customer service. Would highly recommend. Great place for the family and fair prices. Would love to see maybe a few more types of combos but overall, absolutely enjoyed our food and kids loved it.

Have gone last 2 Saturdays and both times the portions were noticeably smaller. The second picture is the same $16 clam strip snack box as the first (bought on a weekday, with different staff). I understand it was a ‘snack’ box, but I could count the number of clam strips without using all my fingers. So, if you don’t count the fries, I paid about $1.50 per clam strip. When I left, I was not satisfied and ended up in a BK drive thru. Gonna be a long time before I go back.
Always great food and a lot of it at KP’s. My wife and I love it!

We had seafood stew. It contained 75% shrimp and a mix of other seafood. It was a soup not a stew with no seasoning. It was very bland. Their fried food looked good.

I absolutely appreciate the food that KP’s has to offer. It’s a well hidden local joint that’s recently expanded. Their customer service is great and the delicious food is cooked fresh and served quickly. The snack size basket is plenty filling with overflowing amounts of food, whereas the large basket can comfortably feed two adults; and the price for the amount of fresh seafood is astounding. I attempt to stop in every time I’m in town and will be sorely disappointed when work no longer brings me across the path of KP’s.
