I don’t really know what my expectations were visiting KP smokehouse for the first time. Because the building itself looks like an abandoned dairy Queen. About what comes out of KP smokehouse is magical. Excellent brisket… Excellent. Mac and cheese, superior blend of cheeses. Really just wonderful. Can’t wait to go back.

Had high hopes for this place after everything I had heard but I have to give an honest review… Service: 5 stars, extremely friendly and warm. Ribs flavor, 5 stars- delicious. Texture: 3 stars …the overall quality of the rib wasn’t bad, they weren’t fatty which was great, although the ends of the ribs had a lot of gristle. The meat was not very tender, I like ribs that the meat can be easily pulled from the bone, this was not like that. It took effort to even pull the meat apart with my fingers. Fat Bob’s smokehouse has very tender and moist ribs, these were not like that. The macaroni and cheese was some of the best we have ever had, much better than Mooneys. We aren’t even big macaroni and cheese eaters and both of us said it was delicious and we would order it again. Very soft texture and extremely cheesy, clearly homemade. My friend said the baked beans were delicious and sweet. The cornbread was soft, fairly moist, and had a good flavor. The jerk chicken with rice was not good. It was average white rice and the jerk chicken had some type of rub on it, it wasn’t a sauce, it was quite salty and just not something either one of us liked the flavor of. Although the texture of the chicken and how it was cooked was fine. We always get jerk chicken from kalypso so we have high standards for jerk chicken and it’s hard to find a place that’s going to compare to kalypso. On their menu it said that the jerk chicken came with a side salad but we never got one. The people who run this place were very nice and we wish them much success with their business.

got a chiavettas chicken dinner for $18, the chicken is double the amount you would get with a regular chiavettas meal, and the Mac and cheese is amazing. also got cornbread and fries which is a great deal. will absolutely continue to support this small business when I’m in the mood for bbq! everyone was extremely kind as well

First time there and we got the Smokehouse Feast. The ribs, chicken, coleslaw (chosen side) and Mac and cheese (chosen side) were AMAZING!
I even enjoyed the cornbread…and I don’t like cornbread.
The only “bad” part was the brisket. It was very chewy. It still had great smoke flavor and the bbq sauce was good.
We’ll definitely be back!

We had 2 of the 1/2 rack barbecued pork rib dinners with sides of collard greens, yams, baked beans, coleslaw, and corn. Everything tasted wonderful. Owners were very polite and friendly. We will definitely be getting their food again.

Some of the food is consistently better than others but all of it is good. Smoked mac and cheese, chicken, pastelitos, and greens are all consistently outstanding.
Service is fast and friendly, but it’s always best to call ahead as they can get busy at times.

Hoped for greatness and was not disappointed! We tried the brisket sandwich and it’s a lot of bang for your buck. ($11 at time of writing) I was full on half. Brisket was perfect, tender with a good amount of tug so it doesn’t disintegrate and not super fatty. Bread was fresh and chewy. The spicy apple BBQ sauce will be in my dreams. I’ll be trying thier other specialty sauces when I go back. This is basically a walk or drive up/take out place without much seating but it’s fine. No one needs to watch us dripping BBQ sauce all over our faces, right?

I’m a food connoisseur and I was very disappointed!! My family and I ordered five fish dinners today. Not what I was expecting the food was very mediocre. The fish was fried so hard that you could not even eat it!!! It seemed old like it was from the day before and they heated up in the microwave. Shut down and regroup if that’s a normal routine, I will wait about 6 months and try them again on my own.

Good ol’ southern hospitality that is hard to come by in today’s world.
