We’ve been coming here since their soft opening back in June of 2025 and have kept coming back since (the first visit was so good that we literally came back the next day)! The handrolls are delicious, the space is tastefully designed, and everyone on the Koyo team is so fun to be around. We always have such a great time dining in, no matter what time of day it is. The consistency in service and food quality has never wavered and it’s also nice to see that the menu has grown since their early days. I’ve tried almost every handroll on the menu at this point and while they’re all tasty and unique in their own ways, I’d have to say my favorites are the salmon, yellowtail, and enoki. If you’re a sushi lover, I’d strongly recommend adding Koyo to your rotation!

Excellent , finally a high quality sushi around the area. First the service is very welcoming Emily was a greater server , she recommended some few plates and specials, all of them very tasty and well made. Second, food quality was pretty good, the Yellowtail Crudo was our favorite followed by the Crab Hand Roll and Yellowtail hand roll , all the hand rolls and crudo are prepared with care, and finally the environment is very clean and easy going. Will return to taste the rest of the menu!

Wow, hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life! The salmon roll and salmon appetizer with flight of sauces was absolute GOLD! GET the Spicy Crunchy Garlic sauce, you won’t regret it!!! Loved the Asparagus roll!! But the cucumber salad stole the show! We had two plates and they were oh so good and drinks were refreshing! Can’t wait to try more! Service was excellent! We stopped by when not so many people were there and had the place all to ourselves. Bathrooms were beautiful and loved the mirrors and decor throughout the restaurant. They had hooks for your bags/purses and the whole place was very clean. Our sushi chef was professional and executed his rolls to perfection! So glad this place opened!!! Definitely a new concept that would do well in this area and also Austin ATX! Thank you for an awesome experience!!!

This hand roll spot is definitely riding the wave of the growing trend as I’ve been seeing more and more of these pop up around Houston! The setup here is all high bar seating (first one I’ve seen with soooo many seats around the bar), and they serve each hand roll one at a time so the seaweed stays perfectly crisp with every bite.
It’s one of the more affordable hand roll places I’ve been to, but the quality is still great. Each roll has a nice flavor pairing like lemon zest or cilantro that would complement the fish. The crispy chili oil is also delicious and I would get it everytime! I was especially happy to see that the crab hand roll actually used real crab, not the imitation stuff you find on so many sushi menus. The fatty tuna was a little fishy to me though, I’m not sure if that’s the norm for that cut (since I usually don’t get it), but that’s how it was for me. Regardless, still ate every bite.
Although there’s another handroll spot that left a better impression in terms of the flavor combo they did with their handrolls, I’d come back. It’s tasty, fresh, and much more reasonably priced. I went around 5:30pm on a Thursday and there were only a few other people dining with such a huge space. Hopefully it gets busier soon, because it deserves it!

Koyo HandRoll bar was a great experience! Our server Angelica did an amazing job at explaining each dish, she gave lovely recommendations. The restaurant is impeccable! Highly recommend the cucumber salad and hand rolls! Five Stars!!

Great vibes and so affordable and way more worth it compared to Handies Douzo. The yellowtail handroll was a favorite as well as the spicy scallop.

Koyo is a hidden gem! The hand rolls are insanely fresh and packed with flavor — you can taste the quality in every bite. The seaweed is perfectly crisp, the rice is seasoned just right, and the fish melts in your mouth. The vibe is sleek and intimate, and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Easily one of the best hand roll spots I’ve ever been to. Can’t wait to go back! The vibes from the girls that waited on us were great too!

A friend found and suggested we visit Koyo Hand Roll Bar. Koyo just had a soft open a month ago, as they are new to the area. Owned by the same owners of Gen & Jinya.
Happy to report this should be a spot you need to visit if you’re craving sushi / sashimi / nigiri style food.
Service was Top Notch, the friendly staff were engaged and holding conversations with us. All while our food was being prepared right in front of us. Continuously asking us if we needed more or topping us off.
The selections: we actually tried so much. So I’ll keep to the highlights only, and what we thought were the very best.
For a Starter: Salmon Crudo and/or Yellowtail Crudo need to be on your list to try.
The salmon crudo with the garlic aioli & lemon zest was delicious! Best part if you enjoy this combination, it can be included into your hand-roll order.
The yellowtail crudo with tamarind ponzu was another delicious combo. But I’m already a ponzu lover. 😉
Should you enjoy a little Sake to wash it all down. Definitely check out Moonstone Pear or Plum. They have a great smooth flavor with a hint on the back.
For the Hand Rolls, choose to preference as always. Yellowtail is one of my personal favorites and didn’t disappoint. It’s tried and true. It was fresh, crisp, deliciousness.
Oh did I forget to mention, the hand rolls are just $5!!! I don’t think you’ll find many places offering anything close to that. Big bang for your buck.
On my next visit, I’m looking forward to trying the fatty tuna hand roll. We can’t wait to return for more.
Our only issues that are worth noting to be aware of:
If there’s a crowd, the inside does echo and can get noisy.
Lastly: parking in this area sucks, the business park stays full during the prime time hours. So be aware when you choose to visit.

A lovely place I enjoyed their fresh lobster & crab rolls, enoki mushroom roll, cucumber salad w/ the crispy pepper sauce. Adorable the decor! And the waitresses have the best personalities. By far this is my favorite little place to go.
