Reviews
Though the restaurant doesn’t have much seating, we only had to wait a few minutes for them to clean a table and seat us.
Our food came out fast and I got to have my favorites like calamari, eel handrolls, and salmon nigiri. The mango salad was also tasty.
We noticed that although the rules state they will charge for excess food, the waitress was kind not to charge a group of teenage boys next to us who over-ordered and were so terrified that they couldn’t finish their food. That’s great hospitality.
We were told we could order three rounds and advised to order the limited “special” items in the first round — which we did. Unfortunately, they were all terrible. The octopus was rubbery and tough like leather. The sushi rice tasted old and stale. The seaweed around the rolls was clearly pre-wrapped long ago and smelled rotten. Some of the fish even had a yellowish color from sitting too long.
We couldn’t even finish the first round and told them we were still hungry but the food was inedible. They still charged us extra for uneaten items as a “buffet penalty,” which almost doubled our bill. The portions weren’t large — they were just bad.
To make things worse, there was a sign in the restroom asking customers not to throw food away and instead admit they couldn’t eat it, which made it feel like they expect this to happen and profit from it.
I’ve tried sushi at many places across Orange County and have never experienced anything this bad. We left still hungry, with a terrible aftertaste. Even after washing my hands multiple times, they smelled like garbage, and I later got nausea and diarrhea.
Absolutely would not recommend.
Parking: Free parking lot. Easy to find a spot.
Ambiance/Environment: It’s a very casual spot. They have a medium sized space with a decent amount of indoor seating. You can choose to sit at the bar or table.
Service: Everyone was courteous, quick, & efficient! The server checked on me a few times ensuring if I needed anything. Since I sat at the bar, the sushi chefs were also making conversations with me.
Foods: Their fish was fresh, smooth, and delicious! I absolutely enjoyed everything! I saw they’re most popular for the Lemon Pepper Salmon. I can agree, now I know why it’s so popular. My favorite rolls are the Mango Salmon special roll. The mango sauce was sooo good! It was a tad sweet but balanced well with the salmon. Although the bluefin tuna was limited per person, it was so delicious.
1. Diablo Roll (special rolls)
2. Mango Salmon Roll (special rolls)
3. Magnolia (no rice rolls)
4. Salmon Skin (hand rolls)
5. Popcorn Crawfish (baked & tempura rolls)
6. Mango Avocado Salad
7. Peppered Salmon (sushi)
8. Ikura (sushi)
9. Bluefin Tuna (sushi)
10. Jalapeño Bomb (appetizer)
Pricing: Definitely worth its AYCE price! There’s so many options in each category. I only lasted 1.5 rounds lol.
The fish quality was actually not too bad! The Bluefin for all you can eat was top quality. I was VERY impressed and needed up getting 14 pieces of it.
Their craft rolls also had a plethora of options and all had some quality grade sushi. There were some that definitely needed sauces to amplify the flavor, but simply just asking the server helped. The Diablo, Mango Salmon and Popcorn rolls were definitely the top favorites of the night.
The appetizers were pretty standard and basic and can never go wrong with Gyoza or Garlic Edamame! The other appetizers like Miso Soup, cheese sticks, wings, not the best and can’t expect too much from a Sushi restaurant.
Overall, experience was great, one of the largest range of options for AYCE and again that Bluefin, definitely would be a reason to go with a big group. The more the better!
Definitely recommend and solid option!
