Krazy and Nosey
I walked into Kountry Kafe boldly wearing my AIDS tattoo. I’m HIV negative and my partner is HIV positive, and it matters to us to find places where we feel welcome. We came in at 10:51, just nine minutes before breakfast ended at 11, and never once felt rushed. Our server Alayah was warm, friendly, and made us feel right at home.

The food came out hot, fresh, and leftovers to take home. We loved it so much that we asked the names of the cooks, Pat and Kendrick, because too often the people in the back don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Kountry Kafe is more than just good food, it is a place that makes everyone feel included.

I want to update my previous review from 4 months ago, because my visit today was a completely different experience — in the best way.

The two ladies working this time were genuinely kind, welcoming, and attentive. Alaya, in particular, went out of her way to make sure I was taken care of and checked on regularly. The other staff member was also attentive and made sure everyone in the dining area felt acknowledged and welcomed.

The atmosphere felt warm, respectful, and inclusive — honestly like a totally different restaurant. It was refreshing to see such a positive change, and I truly appreciate the level of care and professionalism that was shown during this visit.

Thank you to Alaya and the staff for restoring my confidence in this establishment.

Great little Cafe for an impromptu lunch. Our waitress was PRECIOUS and so sweet. The onion rings did not disappoint! Filled up on those too much before the steaming hot patty melt was brought out to the table in a quick and timely fashion. Hands down best patty melt I’ve had in a while!! We will stop by again the next time we pass through town!

After searching for a great breakfast place, that we haven’t visited, my father and I decided to check our Kountry cafe. The reviews showed the place to have a very happy customer base, and the pictures made it look welcoming. Upon entering, we immediately noticed the decor (which, me being from Texas, reminded me of there) and the fact that the place was full. This caught us off guard, because we visited on a Tuesday, so great start. While we’re were there we were greeted by 2 employees, both helpful and friendly. They seemed to be understaffed, and overwhelmed, due to the amount of work each was performing, could have used another staff member. Aside from that, the food come out delicious. The omlett I had was not only very flavorful, large enough to be filling g, but also nice and warm right up until the last bite (very rare for eggs, in my experience). The seasoned potatoes were seasoned really well, also. I was aittle disappointed that having such a great breakfast, they only offered black coffee, I was hoping to have an espresso, but it was OK. The only food item that wasn’t as flavorful as I had hoped, was the gravy. While it was nice and creamy and warm, there wasn’t much flavor, to me. This was a pretty small shortcoming, to deal with since the rest of the breakfast was so good, and the service too. I’ll be back and really enjoyed the meal, thank you.

We waited an hour and half for food. The meal was really good though. Sour dough bread was fresh and the potatoes were seasoned well. Just don’t be in a hurry and it is a good spot to dine.

Our table had the Crab Cake Benedict and the Chicken and Waffles. Both main courses we tasty and a good value. The flavors were on point.

The side of grits was a little disappointing as was the service. The grits were not what I expected based on the menu. They were thin (watery) and had no flavor at all.

Unfortunately, like most food service places today, the service was really nonexistent. We were advised that we could sit anywhere by a server that was behind the counter. We chose a table beside the counter. The server was doing nothing that we could see yet it took roughly 5 uncomfortable minutes to get menus.
We placed our drink order which was promptly filled at which time we placed our food order. The food was delivered in the time that you would expect and that was the last interaction that we had with our server until the bill was brought to our table. No check-up. No “How is everything”? Nothing.
We didn’t let the lack of service interfere with us enjoying the meal it just would have been nice to see if we could have switched out the grits for something else and had a refill on our empty tea glasses.
Hopefully the folks will read this and talk with their staff about the process of being a “server” and not just acting as a food runner.
Enjoy this small business because we did and we’ll go back again.

Wow, what a heartwarming experience! The service was superb, with Mattie being our hostess. Best pancakes I’ve ever eaten, fluffy yet crispy around the edges’ mouth watering. My husband and I are looking for a new place to hang our hats, this little town has warmed our hearts peacefully. Kountry Kafe added to it. Thank you

I visited Kountry Kafe two mornings in a row, and while the food itself was good, the service left me feeling very unwelcome.

On my first visit, my waitress seemed a bit standoffish, but I was served without incident. On my second visit, I arrived just ahead of another couple. The waitress told me I could sit anywhere, but after that, she never returned to my table. She walked past me multiple times, took dishes to the back, served other customers water, and then brought silverware, napkins, and menus to the couple who came in after me. She greeted them warmly, but never once acknowledged me again.

Unfortunately, this experience made it clear that not everyone is treated the same here. While the food may be decent, service and hospitality are just as important, and I left feeling that I was not welcome.

Stopped in because of good reviews and have to say, they’re not wrong!

The food was just like my Mom and Grandmaw made, but probably better (I don’t think Mom will see this). Pancakes are griddled perfectly and barely smaller than the plate itself.

Service was attentive and friendly, but not too much. Just like you would expect in a place packed with locals.
