If you want a meal that feels like a hug from someone’s wise Ethiopian auntie, Kanjo is the place. I ordered the vegan platter with lentils and cabbage. The lentils were rich and soulful, the cabbage perfectly seasoned, and the gluten free injera was so soft it could easily double as a love letter from the motherland.
Also, do yourself a favor: ask for their house-blend spice. Trust me. It’s the kind of seasoning that makes you rethink every meal you’ve ever cooked. Pick some up to take home—you can gift it for the holidays, bring it to dinner parties, or sprinkle a little on your weekday meals when you need instant joy. It’s basically edible gold.
Kanjo, thank you for bringing Ethiopia’s warmth, flavor, and spirit straight to the table. I’ll be back—probably sooner than expected.

We ordered a plate with lamb and beef, and it was so spicy it was barely edible. We thought that the flavors were a bit odd and unfortunately both my husband and I got a food poisoning. We were excited to try Ethiopian food but that was a terrible introduction to the cuisine.

I discovered Konjo several years ago, and have eaten there many times. Their Lamb Tibs was my favorite. However, the last two times I have eaten there, the Lamb Tibs has been terrible. One time it was totally not spiced at all. The lamb was a dull grey color, and had absolutely no flavor at all. When I presented it to the guy behind the counter (circled in the photo), he said, “Yeh, I think they forgot to add the spice”. He did not apologize, he just gave me a ramekin of the bright red spice. I tried adding it to the lamb, but since it had not been cooked WITH the lamb, it tasted horrible. I dumped it in the trash and left angry and frustrated. I reached out to the owners of Konjo via their website, but they never responded. I avoided the place for about 6 months, but my craving for Ethiopian food got the better of me and I went back. I again ordered the Lamb Tibs, and this time it was properly spiced, but in the entire serving there was only two small pieces of lamb — that’s all ! I was again very disappointed, and I will NOT give Konjo another chance. They have disappointed me too many times, and I will never go back.

I’ve tried (and enjoyed) many of the Edgewater restaurants and this one is hands down my favorite. As a vegetarian, I LOVE the hearty, healthy, flavorful, protein rich, DELICIOUS vegan bowl. I always get the spinach, cabbage, and lentils and it never misses. So thankful we have this amazing spot here in Denver. Definitely give them a try if you’ve never had Ethiopian food (or even if you have)!!!

Eat here, plain and simple. If you get the chance get one of everything.
I don’t know anything about authenticity, but I’ve eaten my way around an injera or two and I LOVE the bread here! Bouncy and tender texture and definitely sour!
All of the vegetable dishes are fantastic. Lentils have always been cooked well and the greens are tender and not mushy. My favorite is the cabbage, I could eat a bucket.

My first experience with Ethiopian food and it was top notch! The food was so flavorful with the perfect amount of heat. But the real kicker was the amazing service by the owner. I recommend this place wholeheartedly! Try it out if you see them in Edgewater Public Market or their new location downtown.

4.3 stars. We are huge fans of Ethiopian food so when we found this spot, excited would be an understatement. This is located inside a food hall where there are a plethora of flavors to choose from.
The menu is easy to follow and priced reasonably. Wife ordered the Chicken Tibs Plate ($13.99) with Misir Wot (red lentils). I ordered the Beef Tibs Plate ($14.99) with the Tikel Gomen (curried cabbage). We topped it off with one Sambusa ($4) to split.
There was a brief wait of about 8 or so minutes before our food was ready. Flavors were good though portion size was on the light side. Maybe it was because it was towards the end of the night so supplies were running low?
Employees were busy putting together the orders so interaction was to a minimum. The order setup is via an easy to follow and use touchscreen.
All-in with tip was around $40. Personally for us, we will opt for a traditional sit down restaurant the next time we are looking for Ethiopian.
Thank you, however, for a good meal with nice flavors.

This is actually my first time trying Ethiopian food and I enjoyed it. I chose the veggie option with the red lentils, curried cabbage, and spinach potatoes. I liked them all but the spinach was my favorite. They come with the softest, special textured bread that you can use to wrap your veggies in. It was a sizable dish and I actually have enough leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. The person at the counter was helpful, providing me with usable information. The entire Edgewater food court concept is nice and entertaining and parking was easy to find.

First time trying Konjo and was very impressed by the super vibrant flavors and a good portion for the price. The injera was nice and fluffy, but the red lentils stole the show. So much flavor and left me feeling the perfect kind of full afterwards. Will be back to try the meat next time.
