Amazing food and beautiful presentation! The sashimi was very fresh and high quality, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The ramen broth was rich and comforting, with tender chashu and a perfectly cooked egg. Gyoza and fried chicken were crispy and delicious, not greasy at all. Dessert was light and fresh. You can really tell they care about quality and details. Highly recommend Kokoro!

A new spot in Somerville. We were very excited to try this place out but I think there is still lot of rooms for improvement.
The hits:
Good ordering system. Food was nicely presented. The majority of the sashimi in the don tastes fresh and flavorful. The chicken katsu is crispy and tender.
The misses:
Food took about 45 minutes to come out. And tuna sashimi tasted a little bit fishy. The chicken katsu is sadly misproportioned, with a lot of rice while not too much chicken or any other toppings. The chicken kaarage is heavily breaded, and unlike the katsu, very dry and plain (without the mayo sauce).
I understand that this is still during soft opening phase so hopefully this will contribute a little bit to the improvements. I do hope that the restaurant will succeed as they seem to put a lot of effort in the space and presentation of the food. Will come back to give it another go, perhaps a month after grand opening.

This sushi is really worth it. I ordered this sushi and it was very delicious and juicy. The avocado and salmon were both fresh, and the pieces were very big. I ate it with hot fried chicken and dipped it in mayo sauce so good! There are many drink options. The restaurant has a Japanese-style vibe. It’s clean, nice, and easy to get to. The owner is very friendly and kind.

Stopped in for a chicken katsu sandwich, it was delicious and affordable. The bread was perfectly light and fluffy bread, the chicken was tender and had a delicate crispy crust spread with a slightly sweet sauce. shredded cabbage added extra fresh crispiness. Perfect sandwich, I wish I had 2 more of them right now:
Menu is large, looking forward to coming back and trying more things. Staff is very friendly.

Picked up an order from here and mostly enjoyed everything. Broccoli was very good. The udon noodles were well done. And I loved the fruit Sando!

Great little new place! They have ramen, udon, rice bowls, and more. You can take a stool at one of the bar tables or get it to go.
We got the fried chicken waffle and a bowl of miso ramen, both were delicious. The ramen comes with chicken, and it was so incredibly tender – the staff told us they are making it a special way, I think sous vide. The ramen noodles seemed like very high-quality. The broth was delicious and delicate. The staff is very attentive and happy to have you there. Will visit again!

Lovely new restaurant nestled right in the Union Square neighborhood. The family running it describes their food as casual but it is incredibly prepared Japanese food. The menu is extensive with an option for everyone and every thing we tried was delicious. Great for take out or dine-in. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu.

My new fave restaurant!! My favorite dishes so far are the chicken karaage and vegetable tempura, both fried perfectly and taste amazing!! Their curry is super flavorful and comforting as well, it’s one of my go-to orders. Also definitely try the inari! I had never had one before Kokoro and now I order at least one every time I’m there! The owners are super kind and welcoming too, they always brighten my day 🙂 So excited to keep coming here!

Great new Japanese place in the neighborhood! They clearly put a ton of care into plating things beautifully. The food is delicious and the staff are super welcoming! They’re also aware of allergies and willing to help find dishes that work for different people. They also give Tamari (gluten free soy sauce) packets which is awesome for those of us that can’t have gluten!
