15/05: This was our third visit to Koishi Sushi, and while the food quality and variety were excellent as always, this experience fell short.
I found hair in my food. While these things can happen, the issue was not addressed professionally. The wait staff were lovely, polite, and did their best (special thanks to the Asian man and woman serving us, one of whom was in training and did great) 5/5 for their service!
However, after the plate was taken away, as the team was huddled by the cashier desk, we could clearly hear Chef Rose saying things like “This isn’t a service restaurant” and “What does she want me to do about it?”comments that felt dismissive and unprofessional. She was heard repeatedly and publicly talking down on her staff in a way that created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
I later spoke with her directly; she was initially defensive but did apologise.(thank you for doing so!)
Overall, 4/5: as the food and servers were excellent, but the customer service of the chef needs some improvement. (Please be kind to everyone especially your staff!.)

Came here on a quiet Thursday night so the restaurant was pretty quiet but had a beautiful time. Me and my partner came and enjoyed a lovely meal with great affordable cocktails! (£6.35 or there abouts a drink) as well as a medium size bottle of sake and a few other drinks. We also had the ume sushi set and several sides and the whole meal came to £80. The service was amazing our waitress was India and she was attentive and made sure we were happy and ensured our night when smoothly. We arrived early due to being excited about the food and we were still made to feel comfortable and food and drinks all came out quickly and beautifully prepared. The food, the service and the drinks were all amazing! Tens across the board! Highly recommend!

After ordering takeout from here numerous times and enjoying the food I suggested to eat in the restaurant with my friends… I wish I had never made the suggestion. We were a table of 4, and two of my party received their food after a moderate wait. One of them was missing items and the broth in their noodle soup was incorrect and they were given a spicy soup base despite asking for clear. There was no check back from the wait staff as these issues could have been addressed much sooner. 40 minutes after their food came out and they had been finished for 30, we finally spoke to the waitress who asked how the food had been. We expressed that we were still waiting (after an hour of waiting) for our sushi meaning myself and another guest had not yet received our meal. About 10 minutes later my friends sushi came out and they also ammended the spicy noodle soup dish (however this was not made fresh but the original dish was just transferred into new broth, poor effort). I asked if my sushi was coming and was assured it was on its way. After everyone had finished I was still yet to receive anything I had ordered. The waitress came to clear the table and I asked about my food to which the response was “the chef said everything has been sent out”. I had ordered almost £30 worth of sushi that I never received. The chef came out to ask what was missing only to inform me after an HOUR AND A HALF of waiting that my food had never even been ordered??? Absolutely appalling experience. I ended up leaving without eating anything. There was no offer of compensation, only apologies. I know the waitress wrote my order down and I acknowledge that it isn’t her fault it wasn’t put through but this all could have been avoided with more attentive service and frequent checkbacks with the tables. I feel extremely disappointed with my experience in the restaurant, there was a clear prioritisation of delivery orders. We were not the only unhappy table tonight either…

Delicious food, probably best I’ve ever had eating out. Super polite staff, chef was super nice as well and asked how we liked the food. Decor is extremely comfy and gives a Japanese vibe whilst also feeling like home. The price is also incredible for the food quality! Just wish I knew how to use chopsticks haha.

We waited 1 hour and a half for the tempura, the place was not very full, but the service very slow . They brought the soy into a bowl already dirty with food All the people complained about the delay . There was no salt, cutlery, napkins, there was nothing on the table . Food was ok but Sushi was wrong and some of order missing. Mains came 2 hours after arrival and with a 30 min gap between different peoples dishes. We were only a table of 4. Sake asked for over ice took ages and came steaming hot. Takeaway orders were clearly prioritised. Wont be returning.

Despite how quiet the restaurant was, the waiting times in between ordering and actually getting our food came to a staggering hour and a half (and that’s without counting things we didn’t order like my chicken noodle soup that came extra spicy despite the direct instructions given that it should come “clear”) and my miso soup which was seemingly forgotten until the waitress came around after another 55 minutes later. Here’s the absolute kicker for the night – After a polite reminder that the soup in fact shouldn’t be spicy, the chef “remakes” it (which in their terms apparently is dumping the spicy broth but leaving everything thats been marinating in the volcanic substance and simply replacing the broth with the clear one, wow!) which came back to the table in a record time of 2 minutes BUT left everything spicy once again at which point your only option left is to leave. This part of the experience doesn’t even cover the part where they completely left out my partner’s order from the bill, leaving them without food for the entire duration of our stay.
