I live in Summerville, SC and visit family in WV for the holidays. I drive about 2 hours our of my way to go back to Clover, where I once lived, just to get these sweet carrots. The chicken and steak are good, but those carrots are amazing. I always order a big container of them to take with me. If they ever go out of business I will worry that I’ll never have those sweet carrots again.

The food is fine – much like their sibling brand. I realize the pandemic wasn’t good for any restaurant, but this wasn’t great for dine-in before but it’s awful now. There’s a single plant on one counter, not a single other color or decoration. The cashier was working both the house register and drive in. She was friendly enough, but the only human contact we had in the place. The food is fine, but it’s very sad inside, and now even to-go the food will remind me how sad of a place this is in the dining room.

Always delicious, never had a bad experience and will return again and again! Staff is friendly and courteous. Wait times are reasonable for such quality, fresh food. Love, love, love!!

So, it’s a couple of years later and I’ve had not one, but two horrible experiences here. I don’t know what’s happened with their establishment since our many enjoyable, delicious visits not so long ago. But for the latest trip this past Saturday afternoon, which had been months after my first bad one (rancid crab rangoon), there was no line at the drive-thru and it was well before their busy times. I ordered Crab Rangoon, and two dinner plates, one combo of chicken & beef with the fillet upgrade and one order of shrimp with shrimp sauce. I’ve attached pictures so y’all can see what was given to us for our order. The chicken was dry, somewhat burnt and tasteless. The beef filet was stringy, dry and burnt. Carrots were either mushy or burnt and mushy, rice was tasteless as well and extremely dried out. Shrimp was stringy and dry and our Rangoons were burnt to a crisp with extremely dry filling inside. Inedible! When I attempted to call and speak to a manager, the phone just rang and rang. I feel like we were served the previous days food, reheated in an oven for much too long. I’m so very disappointed, as this place used to be our go-to spot for quality “take-out”.

I was skeptical based on previous reviews, but I gave it a shot and I’m so glad that I did! I placed my order in the drive through around 8pm. Customer service was excellent and the staff taking orders was so friendly. I waited less than 7min to collect my order. My food was hot fresh and absolutely worth the visit. I ordered the chicken and shrimp noodle plate and in comparison to other hibachi take out locations, I received much more protein. This will be my staple hibachi takeout restaurant.

I give this place good size portions. The crab rangoons actually had pieces of crab meat and were pretty tasty. (Umm, so there were 6 rangoons, but 3 of them disappeared before I took this picture, lol) I also posted a picture of the receipt) We’ll be back.

Burned my crab Rangoon, hibachi chicken doesn’t look cooked all the way and the dipping sauce is absolutely horrible. Worst I’ve ever had. I requested the second one and I’ll be dumping that one in the trash. Do better I was hungry.

Sake is a very good place to try, the shrimp sauce they give you is amazing. The plate size is pretty decent for the price. The drive thru does get pack at times and is better to head inside and order your food.

Absolutely atrocious experience! By far the worst meal I’ve had in the area in years! The Crab Rangoon was burned to a crisp and tasted like a dirty nursing home smells. I wouldn’t be surprised if I got sick from eating them. They were rancid and made stomach turn. There was nothing at all special about the steak special other than the pathetic portions that was mostly old stale vegetables. Their shrimp sauce was even terrible which I didn’t even think was possible. Do yourselves a favor and avoid Kochi like the plague unless you want to take your chances ingesting what might actually be the plague.

Very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It is fast food Japanese, but a good value for what you get! My husband and I both got hibachi plates (him chicken and shrimp, me shrimp). Actual shrimp, not baby shrimp. I also got sushi. Enjoyed it so much I bought more on the way out for lunch the next day. Fast and friendly service! A little weird that they give you cash to leave for your tip if you charge it, but not a deal breaker.

What can I say? The kids working up front were super-friendly and eager to take my order.
The management needs to make improvements.
There were signs on the wall menu stating prices have increased; with tape covering the old prices and new prices were marked on top. But wait! The prices were still higher when items were rung up. On top of that, I was charged $2 extra for tap water in a Styrofoam cup! That is not listed anywhere on the menu! Shame on you Kochi!! Who charges $1 for a cup of water? The food was sub-par. Dry chicken that lacked flavor and too tough to chew. What a disappointment and waste of money. Oh, and they keep the door propped open in the winter when temperatures are in the 40’s. The poor employees are wearing heavy jackets to stay warm. I will not return. Lesson learned.
