Good burger.

– Wagyu Burger – $18: A high quality beef that was leaner and a tad drier. It was cooked medium-well. The two patties were almost smash burger thin and cooked similarly. I didn’t sense the carmelizing, though.

It had a great amount of cheese. The toppings were fresh and balanced. The sauce was nice, but I think I would have preferred a little ketchup on it (which they had on the side).

I love Nantucket bread and their bun was a great match for this burger. The bun was toasted and had a spot that was burned, but it didn’t affect the flavor or texture.

Overall it was good and worth the price. I am not over the moon about it, but it was a quality burger. This is the second wagyu burger I’ve had in Grand Rapids.

– Fries – $2.50 extra: Very good fries. I’d put it on my top ten list in Grand Rapids that I’ve had so far. They were thinner cut, but not shoestring thin. They do cool fast, but they serve them super hot to make sure you have time to eat them. They were a little on the saltier side, but it really works for this particular application. They were cooked perfectly.

– Service: Took some time. We were seated by someone at the front door of the restaurant on the 8th floor. Another server took our order and processed payment. A third server actually brought our food out and took our dishes. I had to flash money to get attention to pay our bill because we were forgotten (we waited 10 minutes). Other than that, we were well taken care of.

– Atmosphere: Clean, organized, classy, modern. I felt slightly out of place with street clothes when the one taking my dirty plate was in a suit. Some pictures of the atmosphere were bright and cheerful, but at night it was very dimly light and darker.

The biggest plus is the outdoor rooftop balcony seating. We were there during the winter, but I’ve been there in the summer and it is an amazing view! Even looking out the windows is fantastic.

– Conclusion: Good burger. High class place.

Visited on a Wednesday at 7pm.

A beautiful setting! We made reservations for a large group and the tucked us into the lounge area. We stayed for a few hours drinking and getting dinner. The drinks were delicious and the food was great.

Went here after work to celebrate a Bday.

Drinks and food here were great. Lovely rooftop atmosphere.

My qualms: the waitress had to come back several times tell one of us that they were out of something ordered. To be out of half the things on the menu @ 4PM on a Thursday was a little shocking but we brushed it off. The waitress asking if we wanted our checks multiple times when we were actively still ordering and eating was a bit off putting.

Went on a Monday night in February so it wasn’t busy at all. Loved the cozy atmosphere and seating. The cocktails and food were good. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive to all the tables. Would be happy to come back in the summer to actually sit outside!

This is the fourth or fifth time I’ve been here. I arrived on March 2nd at 9:45pm. Sat down at the bar it took 10 minutes for the bartender to come over to help me. He then proceeded to tell me the kitchen was closed. It’s open till 11. Why is the kitchen closed before 10. Also, food was still coming out. Slap in the face, I have been in here at 11pm before and have seen people still finishing food. This is one of my normal spots to hit while in town for work, Not anymore after this. Adjust hours online if you guys are going to close the kitchen at 9:30pm.

We visited Knoop with a group of 12 and had a wonderful time. It was easy to make a reservation and they put our group into a cute spot near the bar. The host, our server and the manager were all great! We will be back again.

A great rooftop to spend the afternoon eating and drinking. Our server was very helpful with our drink selections and never steered us wrong. They were all excellent. The food was perfect as well. It took us a while to get a reservation, so book early. It’s a busy spot, and it deserves to be.

Went here for drinks. Every drink was wonderful, we were a group of 11, and got lucky to walk right in on a Saturday night! I wish i would have more photos of the skyline and the overall atmosphere inside of Knoop. It was great. Since we were a larger group, we basically tried most of the drinks and loved them all!!

Knoop is the hip new rooftop joint in GR, on top of the new hotel Canopy by Hilton. They have indoor and outdoor seating, both tables and lounge style. We sat outside in the lounge. There were some bugs, but it was tolerable and we were outside, so what do you expect?

The menu is focused on German and Dutch cuisine styles like pretzels, sausages, and meatballs. There also some great seafood and salad options in addition to standard fare like burgers. Everything has a modern flair to it. While the menu is limited, there’s something for everyone. Their signature dish is “Rooftop Chicken”, a modern European take on chicken and waffles. I had the lobster quesadilla, which was fantastic.

They have an extensive drinks menu with a rather large and unique cocktails list. Cocktails are pretty fancy, with fun presentation and premium ingredients. Also good wine and beer options, with local flights available.

Usually it takes a little bit for new restaurants to get the kinks worked out, but everything was running smoothly for us from the get go. We got seated immediately, got drinks and apps promptly, our server was attentive and pleasant, service on the whole was top notch.

Prices are a premium, but that’s to be expected at a swanky new rooftop joint downtown. If a couple each gets a drink and entree and share an app, you can expect to spend 80 bucks-ish. Overall I’d recommend it, especially as a great date spot for conversation.
