Found a gem in the D Gates at SFO: Klein’s Deli. Fresh, customizable, and just what I needed.
I was flying out of SFO and needed something quick but satisfying before my flight. None of the other restaurants in the terminal looked appealing, so I was happy to stumble across Klein’s Deli at Gate D.
I ordered the North Beach sandwich, and the best part is that it was fresh-made to my liking. I asked them to leave off the tomatoes so it wouldn’t get soggy since I’d be eating it later. I ended up eating it about an hour later on the plane, and it was still perfect. Fresh bread, quality meats, melty mozzarella, crisp lettuce, pepperoncini, and their special sauce tied it all together.
This was hands-down a better choice than the usual grab-and-go bagged food. It tasted like a real deli sandwich, not “airport food.”
If you’re flying out of the D Gates, Klein’s is a solid stop for a fresh, hearty bite before your flight. I’ll definitely be back next time.

You wouldn’t expect such a nice quality food in an airport.
I usually do not expect to get nice foods from airports because of the known reasons. But the food I got here was so fresh and delicious. I got a turkey sandwich, it was great, made my flight back to Philadelphia a lot easier. The salad was fresh too. Good price as well.

I gave a 4 star on atmosphere, because usually this airport is very crowded. Today it was a breeze and very quick. I made a build your own, and I was attended by Mr Jade, whom was very attentive, courteous, and friendly. The food here is always great, but today, being able to eat in peace and not under pressure, made it that much better. Combine it with really good customer service it made my experience, so much better. If you’re at SFO and want a quick bite along with great attitude and customer service, definitely stop by Kleins Deli. I’m not a fake review, but I may have had a drink and that is where the extra joy came from my sandwich this afternoon.

Got 4X Veggie Breakfast Sandwiches (Substituted Sourdough). Pricing ($10) and size was pretty solid for the airport, relatively speaking, compared to neighboring restaurants. They made the sandwiches hot and fresh, nearly burned my tongue (very good thing). They made them carefully and took their time even with a line of customers, genuinely some of the best food I’ve had at an airport.

Made to order deli sandwiches. I really enjoyed my Embarcadero chicken sandwich and chips combo. There was a huge line so I scanned the QR code and ordered online. My food was ready well before the time it would have taken for me to get to the front of the line.

Sandwiches are really good, but it cost more to get chips with it than to combine the soda and chips?? That is my only complaint with them, a little pricey, but when you want something besides really bad airplane food, then the choice is really easy.

Wow Klein’s Deli coming through showing the world that an airport cafe CAN be excellent! Really friendly service, very fast, great food and pastry and coffee options, the self service milk for coffee had 3 types and was full, plafe was clean. They even made for me an off menu croissant, with a smile! So impressed and happy – Klein’s redeemed airport cafes.

It was just fine. How I ended up paying $25 for a lox and a large mocha I don’t know. The lox wasn’t that great, it was just fine, but way too expensive at $15. It was mostly just tomato, very little salmon. Typical airport prices though. The Cafe mocha wasn’t bad, I liked it. The people working were pretty neutral, I have no qualms there. I was there at 7am on a Wednesday and there was about 6 of us in line and it moved fast. There seems to be 2 lanes and no one really knew where to order from or line up though. We just chose to go to the one by the coolers.
