22 minutes to get the food we ordered to go, this was our first time so I don’t know if that is usual. There was no one in the restaurant before us, but they do door dash orders. There seemed to be only two employees Monday at lunch, one upfront taking inside orders, phone orders and drive through orders and getting them out and then a cook. The food is not dissimilar to buffet or mall food court Chinese but it was mostly good. Chicken egg rolls have a heavy ginger profile if you like that. Crab Rangoon were really good. Hot and sour soup was really hot that day and had a slightly metallic taste, but I did eat it all. The sweet and spicy chicken was delicious and the broccoli beef was good and cooked well. The lo main was good but my steamed rice was way overcooked stuck together and mushish. The fried rice was good according to my husband and my son liked everything in his big plate (orange chicken, sesame chicken, tryaki chicken, and sweer and spicy chicken) and egg drop soup. I didn’t try it so I will take his word. My son would probably give it 5 stars and wants to go back. Im okay with going back, just need to be sure to give extra time for getting it and won’t get steamed rice again. I would say you should check it out, it’s better than panda, but don’t expect it to be like a sit down Chinese place experience or taste.

February 2026 update: big noticeable quality increase here. Saw the new sign outside for the all-day $8 teriyaki chicken special. Ordered it with fried rice and included an egg roll. Went at about noon on a weekday. The chicken was delicious, teriyaki sauce, bit charred in a great way like you expect from a sugary sauce. Huge portions like before. Highly recommend now

Original review: I went here once and ordered off the prepared food and didn’t think much of it. They don’t seem to have the high turnover needed to have a cafeteria style service like big well-known chains. It was slightly warm and a bit soggy. But to give it a second chance, I went back and ordered the hibachi which is prepared fresh and it was very good and definitely worth the price. Included a side of soup not pictured. I’d recommend ordering that, or going during a very busy lunch if you want the tradition Chinese American cuisine

First off, the service we received by the two gals were top notch and service so friendly and kind that most places do not give.

You can buy meals under $10 but we tried a 4 item plate and it was good!
We will definitely be going back and telling others about how good this place is.

I have been wanting to find that great take out asian food and we found it!!!
A place with great service, actual good portion sizes, and good taste!

It’s really sad that I’m rating this low because my husband and I love this style of food, and it’s the only decent one in the area. However, yesterday, my husband went right when they opened and they were incredibly rude and short with him. He’s not one to start trouble so I was a little frustrated when I heard that. Not only that, but the food they served him tasted strange, he took two bites of it, and almost threw up. When he came home, he showed me the food, and it looked old. It also smelled rancid. I’ve never been super impressed with the service and I’ve felt the same way about the food. I would only recommend going here if you wanted old food and bad service. For that service and price, I wouldn’t recommend it.

I pass this place nearly every day on my daily commute, so I’ve been scoping it for a while, and finally decided to come by for lunch and try it. The inside has been pretty cleaned up from the former Bojangles that was here, but the layout is still reminiscent of how it was then.

Ordering food is very similar to a Panda Express or Food court where you have premade options to choose from or you can also get made to order hibachi. I went with the 3 entree with one side option and chose Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Mongolian Beef, a side ginger salad, fried rice, and a water for about $14. Unlike most places, they gave me the fried rice on the side which I prefer cause my protein choices were far from dry.

The portions for each meat was generous and my favorite of the 3 was hands down the broccoli beef. The veggies were perfectly cooked, tender, and the sauce used brought it all together. The beef was not super fatty or dry and tender as well; however, the Mongolian beef was overcooked and a bit more tough, but only slightly. It wasn’t dry or a deal breaker. The orange chicken was really good too and nowhere near as sweet as most places with a slight kick of spice, which I preferred more. The salad with ginger dressing was on par with the other places I’ve been and the fried rice was pretty good, and I ate only a little, but I tried it with their white sauce and am now excited to try the Hibachi next time.

The quality of the food I’d say is slightly less than a place like Panda Express, but better than Little Tokyo Express down the road, so I’d be willing to spend just a little bit more to come back to Kirin Express.

This is only my first time, so I’ll update as I try more options, but I’ll definitely be back

Was hesitant to go an hour before close, but the food was fresh and we were super pleasantly surprised. Happy to have a Chinese food place in town that’s good, and the Japanese is good as well.

Wife and I stopped in for lunch at noon on Saturday. The restaurant was nearly empty and we saw little traffic in the time we were there. Never been there before, so tried a variety of items. My Hibachi meal was good – attractive, tasty, and well-seasoned. My wife had Orange Chicken and Sesame Chicken with Lo Mein. Portions were large, but taste pretty-much at Chinese buffet standards. Also had a Spring roll and an Egg Roll, both of which were fair at best with the Spring roll severly undercooked with a doughy crust. Crab Rangoon was fairly decent. Hot and Sour soup was quite spicy and tasty. The place was spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly. Nice music playing at comfortable volume.

Quantity of food is great but quality definitely suffers. Did two deluxe orders(3 meat) only got two meats. Ordered the filet and it’s definitely not filet or cooked to order. Rice is very bland. I’ll try it one more time but not hopeful. Price and quantity stand out, just not flavor or quality.

No frills but good deals. Orange Chicken was the best. They make sure you get plenty of food. Everything is this photo for only $21. Support local businesses!

this is great food. I like that there are some habachi type dishes and Americanized Chinese food. I think it hits the spot and I like that you can get a variety of things per plate. I like the Mongolian beef a lot, my wife likes the teriyaki chicken. My kids love the edamame and getting noodles.
