Staff is super nice! BBQ was good and not greasy. Would have loved more hushpuppies with our family order.

I don’t understand how this place has been in business so long. I had the Boss Hog with okra and my wife had the Boss Hog with fries. The pulled pork was the worst I’ve ever had, over cooked and dry. The fries were cold and gross. The okra was actually good. Finally, the service was just awful. The cashier’s weren’t blatantly rude but far from friendly. There was a heated argument coming out of the kitchen. We were also told our food would be ready in 15 minutes… It took 40 minutes. My advice, just go to Smithfield’s.

Stopped in as it’s been forever since I’ve had any Eastern NC barbecue. Folks were real nice and the food did not disappoint. Volume of food was great too! Real good price. Didn’t do the buffet as we don’t do those anymore since the old Ryan’s days. But a little shook that the buffet was next to the bathrooms. Just my weirdness on that I guess. But they did have a two door system for getting in/out the bathrooms so there was some separation there. Bathroom was so so with air hand dryers & no towels. So having to pull the doors open towards you (not pushing) just don’t sit real right with me. But it’s an old establishment so it is what it is. But food was delicious!

Food was good, Eastern style BBQ, was just as expected.(perfect) fried shrimp, and fish were good too. Turkey and Dressing with gravy on the Buffet was awesome. The restaurant is a little dated on the inside. Went for the Sunday Buffet. Most of staff was hard working with the exception of the cashier who couldn’t put down her phone to help people.

The meeting space was perfect for our meeting with about 80 people. Food was served in a buffet style and was excellent. They had a projector in the ceiling so I was able to hook my computer to it to show a slide presentation. Staff was very helpful in setting it up.

County style comfort food at it’s best. The BBQ, popcorn shrimp, and fried chicken on the buffet we’re all delicious. The collards are to die for. Top it all off with scratch made banana pudding. All for about $2 more than a fast food burger and fries. King’s gets my strongest recommendation.

This is one of the best BBQ experiences in NC. Stop in for the buffet, as I do every time I pass through Kinston. The comparative advantage of NC BBQ is sides. The buffet gives you an opportunity to try them all. Find chicken, pulled pork, fried shrimp, collard greens, casseroles, mash potatoes and more; it’s hard to find a BBQ spot with as much variety these days. Staff are friendly. I have been told one can find better quality pulled pork elsewhere but that’s only about 10% of what I eat when I come.

Stopped in for the lunch buffet on a friend’s recommendation. Arrived at lunch opening time. The food was hot and fresh. The selection was pretty good. BBQ, fried chicken, and shrimp with lots of sides. Desserts were available along with a soft serve ice cream machine. The food was tasty. Not the best I have eaten, but certainly not the worst. It was worth the price to have choices and enjoy the Southern cooking. The staff was friendly and the service was good. The cashier had some trouble with math….3 x $15.78 = $59.65….No! We did some counting on our fingers and settled on $50. Don’t lose the ticket the waitress gives you! It will save you time at the register. All in all a good experience. I would go back.

Driving through Kinston and had to stop. Pig and poke was good, ribs were good, onion rings could use a different batter in my opinion and tea did not taste fresh was old and harsh tasting. Waitress was a delight, was raining outside and was leaking in main dining room, added character to experience.
