This place is in the middle of nowhere. It is a destination stop, especially if you are in South Texas. It is located at the end of the road on Baffin Bay. Word of mouth is probably the only way you’ll hear about it. It has a lot of history. The food….sold by the pound. Absolutely delicious. Do not go on weekends, we were told there is a 2 hour waiting list. Worth it! Everything is fresh fresh! The avocado salad is a must try, enough for 2 people. We had fried shrimp. Mmmmhhh good. We didn’t get the onion rings. When a plate passed our table we wished we had! Hushpuppies and fries were great. Definitely would go again! Not fancy but very clean. We saw families, office workers, birthday party, etc. It is a mixed group clientele. They have home-made deserts, This is a old fashioned, well established restaurant. We highly recommend.

Horrible service. The hostess never smiled, she looked like she was done with everyone. Just sour. The waiter took over 10 minutes to come to the table. No menus. He gave us a piece of tattered paper with the food items. We waited over an hour for greasy soggy onion rings, cold fries and cold oily shrimp. The waiter forgot about us until we went to the bar area! Once he saw us, the food was brought to the table, but again it was much much less than desirable. R waiter never came to bring us the check, we ultimately just went to the register. Once again the hostess couldn’t be bothered. Just plain awful 2/10 will not be back.

This is place is often highly recommended and honestly I don’t get it. First off, we had a reservation and we were sat 40 minutes after our reservation time. The waiting space is dusty (like the rest of the restaurant) and it was 85 degrees in the waiting area.

This place is an icon! Simple menu done perfectly and with a unique flair. The service, ambiance, and food are all exceptional! It’s so good, in fact, that I’ve driven 2hrs out of my way to go eat here when “in the area”. Don’t pass it up, and make a special trip if you need to, I guarantee it’ll become a tradition for you as it has for me.

Been coming to this restaurant for many years. The seafood is always fresh. However, this last visit left a lot to be desired. The service was super slow and the waitress was not gracious enough to apologize for the 40-minute wait for our food. We had to flag her down to inquire. When food arrived, fries were cold so we sent them back. Seems like the dressing on the avocado salad has been changed from simple fresh lemon drizzle to so kinda dressing made with olive oil. It was horrible! Fried shrimp and drum were good as usual.

I read the recent reviews and was hesitant to go due to some negative comments, but we decided to go anyways because we know how great it usually is. We have eaten at various fine dining places and have learned that no restaurant is perfect. My father has been eating here for about 25 years and has always left the restaurant a happy customer. Today the service was excellent, and the food was hot & delicious. The fish was fried to perfection , it was flaky and crispy / the hush puppies were crunchy on the outside/ soft on the inside and full of flavor. The avocado salad was cold and the dressing was great just like it always is. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes seafood. There have been a few negative reviews lately but just remember it’s impossible to keep everyone happy in the restaurant business. I do hope people come to try this wonderful place!

Even short handed the staff did an excellent job making sure we were taking care of even though they were packed as usual. Food always good. The establishment it’s self hasn’t really changed much over the years, but regardless I always look forward to eating at Kings Inn and getting a slice of key lime pie.
