My son and I ate at King’s Buffet last night. We were impressed by all of the remodeling they have done. The food was delicious and very fresh. The restaurant was super clean, and the staff was friendly as always. I like the real plates and silverware. We will be back again soon.

I haven’t been here for over a decade and I probably won’t try it again for at least that amount of time. Check the photos for a quick reference, otherwise continue reading.

Never got a single refill. Food was old. Seats were sticky. The wonton broth looked like I scooped it out of a toilet but rest assured it was scooped from the actual buffet.

I tried everything that looked somewhat fresh and it was either lacking seasoning or for some reason overtly tasted like flour. One note, I tried to bite through the garlic bread and my teeth stopped 2/3’rd of the way through because it was so hard.

Tried a different side, same thing. Even tried a different piece. Same thing.

In the end the only thing that tasted somewhat okay was the crab rangoons and chicken nuggets, which the ladder were wiped out for over 30 minutes and they never refilled those while we were there.

You might say: “Well maybe they were really busy and about to close!”

There was if I recall, 5 other tables with about 15 people all together excluding us and they still had quite a bit before they were supposed to close.

So my suggestion if you go there is get the food I listed (Crab Rangoons and Chicken Nuggets). Everything else just looked like people was chewing on rubber for the items that I didn’t try. Oh yeah, 3 people with two drinks was over $50 for the bill.

Kings Buffet in Kearney, NE was the BEST food I have ever eaten! Every item on the buffet was delicious! The sushi was so YUMMY! The service was amazing! Waitress was so nice, whole staff was full of smiles! Bathrooms were exceptionally clean!

Love this place. Great food. Friendly staff. Im giving 3 stars because a woman with a mop stood in the buffet area and watched us get our food, apparently waiting for us to get out of her way.

Overly priced for what they have to offer.. food has no flavor super bland, you have to get plastic plates and like reviews mentioned the plastic forks are in a box and it’s gross.. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.. options of food are very limited..the lady just threw us the tab on the table and we weren’t close to finished which made it all worse.. never going back!
All the food in that plate had no flavor! Went on a Saturday right at noon

For being what I consider “in the middle of nowhere” (I’m from the west coast), this was a great find. All of the food was tasty, I especially liked the chicken skewers, crab rangoons, and the sweet potato sushi roll. The selection is smaller than I am used to in a buffet, but the food was good enough to go back for seconds of many of the dishes.

Reasons for 4 stars instead of 5:
The dim sum and the wontons needed lids to stay soft, this is an easy fix.
The styrofoam plates and plastic silverware were a turn off. So much waste!

Considering how late it was, we really didnt expect much service wise. We were there about an hour before close and another family was in there. It was recommended to us for being an affordable family location. If we stop in town again we know to steer clear! The food was extremely bland, we expected it to not be the freshest but honestly some looked like it had been out since lunch. Even the “safe” bet of sweet and sour chicken was abysmal. Our ice cream tasted watered down which was extremely disappointing. To pay almost $50 for four people is absurd. Some of the food had a bizarre after taste, crab rangoon wasnt even cooked all the way and some tasted spoiled. I’m hoping no one gets sick at this point. As for the atmosphere, maybe a health inspector should go through, there looked like there was mold in the bathroom and the dining area looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. I hope they turn it around for their sake because I know they’ve been around for a while but I don’t have much hope if this continues.

Horrified does not begin to cover it.

The food was BAD….overcooked and it all tasted the same, all served on styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery (???), I literally had to spit the Bao out because there was something VERY wrong with it….the restart t was very unclean.and then it got worse: It cost over $110!! And that was after we were discounted for have a 10 year old….

I felt robbed and like I had risked my family to an unsafe place…..even my kids felt sick after we left…..It simply should not have been that way.

Long time Customer we have dined in here once a week or so for a long time Tonight was my final night I know the price has gone up and the place hasn’t been cleaned up Everything looks pretty grungy and worn out. I looked past all this. But tonight the food was not so fresh. I asked two or three times is there gonna be new chicken come out she ignored me. I said something when I paid the bill and she said oh she doesn’t speak English 72.02 for four people to eat old gross buffet Definitely was not happy definitely very sad that this was our last trip Anybody going in here Make sure you take a look around. Before you are seated and maybe pass and go to the next place.

We recently visited and, unfortunately, our experience was not great. Right off the bat, we weren’t shown to our table – we were just pointed in the direction to go, which felt a bit impersonal.

One of the biggest things that stood out to me was the switch to thin disposable foam plates and plastic silverware. As someone who cares about the environment, I was really disappointed to see this change. It doesn’t feel like the best choice for the long term, especially when it comes to sustainability.

As for the food, it was what you’d expect from a typical Chinese buffet – decent but nothing to rave about. It’s good for a quick, casual meal, but it doesn’t go above and beyond.

Another issue was the pricing. We were charged the same price for our 11-year-old as we were for an adult, even though he ate significantly less. I understand pricing can be tricky, but this felt a bit off.

Overall, it wasn’t the experience we were hoping for, and we’re unlikely to return anytime soon unless there are some changes.
