King Ranch has a large menu but nothing we had really stood out. The brisket queso was flavorful. The shrimp-stuffed jalapeños were just okay. The filling was fine, but the fried batter was too thick for my taste. The blackened fish was disappointing. It was extremely buttery and not cooked evenly. The ends were flaky, but the center was tough and undercooked. The green beans were delicious and cooked perfectly.
Service was friendly and attentive, but the noise level at lunchtime was very loud and made conversation difficult. Not recommended for a business lunch.

First time diners here and long time Landry’s guest. Service was good, food was good. Our favorite was the brisket queso appetizer. I ordered the NY Strip (medium) with a Loaded Sweet Potato. The medium was more medium rare and I’ve never had green onions on a sweet potato. Through off the taste; wasn’t a fan… Husband had the Country Fried Steak and Mash Potatoes, he said it was yummy. We will return for sure!

I like this place definitely gave a rustic steakhouse vibe. For starters we tried the quail and crabcake. We didnt get a pic of the quail but it was so delicious, the crabcake was too! I had the 8oz center cut filet with the oscar topping suggested by our server & my partner had the blackened red fish. Everything was so good! I had 2 cocktails they were very good! BEWARE they were very strong overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back!

We had a fantastic experience at King Ranch Texas Kitchen! The quail, brisket queso, and calamari were amazing appetizers. I had the steak with asparagus, and my wife got the smoked turkey and brisket with beans, coleslaw, and potato salad — everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The carrot cake was the perfect way to end the night.
Erica was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of the entire time. We’ll definitely be back!

My wife and I went for the Christmas Buffet and our experience was not the standard that is known here. Having previously eaten at King Ranch during Happy Hour we expected the buffet would be reasonably good – for $59/head we’re not expecting excellent, but at least edible.
However, it was pretty disastrous and borderline a health scare. The food was by and large, cold and not kept to temperature.
We tried a few of the sides, at least the ones which weren’t finished – they tasted ok-good but temp was cool/cold on everything.
The carving station, meat was cool temp and gravies were kept lukewarm at best – flavor again was ok but not great.
When we went back for another plate once it had quietened down, they had no meat left at all – this was 15-20m before buffet finish time, which left us with some cold Mac n cheese and chicken nuggets (chicken bullets, they were SOLID).
Some of the clean plates had food residue on them, more grossly some of the patrons were observed eating in the buffet hall instead of at their table.
The service was good, although our server struggled initially to open the wine.
Some suggestions for this in future:
1. Please maintain safe food temperatures, we’re lucky not to get sick here but cold plates and lukewarm food sitting out for hours is pretty risky.
2. Consider keeping empty options topped up regularly with fresh food. We both went up twice and in both occasions much of the options were out.
3. Keep food available up until buffet closing time, I overheard our server advising buffet was still available to another table at 3:45 despite us being aware there was no meat or some sides left, can’t imagine this would be a good experience for those diners.
4. Maybe play some Christmas music in the restaurant on Christmas Day?

This was our 2nd day in Houston, and wanted to try something tasty. We came across King Ranch Texas Kitchen. When I came here, it screamed Texas, with the decorative country designs, cozy atmosphere, and very decent hospitality. As for the food, my wife and I started off with the bread basket. It came with corn bread which was decent, biscuits with cinnamon butter, and pretzel sticks which were to die for. For our mains, my wife ordered the bbq bacon burger which had nicely melted cheese, and probably one of the best bacon I have ever had. For myself, I got the French dip and there homemade potato chips. We also got the street corn. Very good. Only thing I have to mention is the price. $70 for 1 soda, a bread basket, a French dip, and a burger. A little pricey, but decided to give back to the locals. Overall, I would definitely come back.

The food here is absolutely amazing! The ribs were so tender that the meat slid right off the bone, and the steaks were cooked to absolute perfection. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The sides were classic American comfort food done right—simple, hearty, and delicious.

Classic Texas experience! Before you read any further, you MUST order the brisket queso dip as an appetizer. Totally worth it! Have been here a few times solo, date night, and large business gathering. All were exceptional. I’ve tried 10 or so things on the menu and have never been disappointed. Steaks are good, salads are good, apps are good. Try it, it may become your new favorite restaurant in Houston.
