Bit into our food and 3 out of 5 entrées had multiple pieces of hair in them. The very first bite of sushi had a hair. I honestly wasn’t upset at first things happen but after finding a fourth hair, I called very politely just to ask if there was anything that could be done and apologized for even bothering them.

The manager’s response completely shocked me. He started the call with “listen, girl,” then raised his voice at me and insisted I was wrong. It was incredibly uncomfortable and disrespectful. I’m honestly really upset and disappointed by how it was handled.

As someone who used to frequent King Kong Sushi, I’m sad to say I won’t be returning. The way this situation was handled both the food quality and the treatment of a paying customer was distasteful and disappointing. It used to be one of my favorite spots, which makes this even more unfortunate. I’m really not a reveiw girl, but I was literally so jaw dropped I had to. gag of the year was the betrayal of king kong sushi.

EDIT: After reading the management responses to other low reviews, I realize this doesn’t seem to be just a one-manager issue. Reviews exist for a reason. If you can’t accept constructive criticism from the very customers who keep you in business, that’s a problem. I wish I had taken the time to read these beforehand, I definitely would have reconsidered coming here all the times I have. Now I know. Super weird, i’ve actually never seen this in a professional setting before. It’s not hard to be decent, especially when I came from such an understanding place.

The way a business responds to criticism says more than the criticism itself ever could. read the reviews people, it matters.

My girlfriend and I ordered food and 3 out of the 5 entrées had multiple pieces of hair in them. The very first bite of sushi she took had a hair in it. At first, we honestly weren’t upset — things happen — but after finding a fourth hair, she called very politely just to ask if there was anything that could be done and even apologized for bothering them.

The manager’s response completely shocked both of us. He started the call with “listen, girl,” then raised his voice at her and insisted she was wrong. It was incredibly uncomfortable and disrespectful to hear someone speak to her that way. I was honestly really upset and disappointed by how the situation was handled.

We used to frequent King Kong Sushi, and it was one of our favorite spots. After this experience — both the food quality and the way she was treated as a paying customer — we won’t be returning. It’s really unfortunate because we genuinely liked the place, which makes this whole situation even more disappointing. It was actually so nasty we are not ones to ever review things but it was just such a let down after going there often for years. like super super uncomfortable and odd. we work as servers. we know customers can suck, but I as a patron and server in the food industry have genuinely never experienced a manager talk to a young girl like that I very much encourage you to not come here unless you want hairy rice and rude rude rudeeee staff:(

We ordered from here and the sushi rolls are the smallest we’ve ever had ! And they are expensive for what you get . Our family ordered $70 worth of food and we’re not even full after eating every bite of it ! And we are small people lol Our 9 year old daughter could eat almost 2 sushi rolls by herself . It tasted good but very small portions . The crab wontons are tiny and have almost no filling . We will not be back unfortunately.

My son and daughter in law found/discovered this place at Broadway at the beach while we were attending the F-Body Beach Bash car show. We have been doing this show for 5 years and didn’t know about King Kong.
While I sat with our show cars, my son called me and asked if I wanted anything.
SURE!!
Needless to say, my son and his wife went every single day during the car show.
I think they went a total of 3X while here for 4 days, lol.
I come here often from out of town, and I yesterday was my first time going by myself to get take out.
YUM YUM!!
I love the crunch roll and the edamame!
Service is always spot on.
Friendly.
Great atmosphere.
Never a long wait.
Food always fresh!
We wish they had one in the Charlotte NC area, because we would be there every week if not more.
Will definitely be back to try other types of sushi!!

Went for the first time- had a lunch special of teriyaki chicken that came with soup and salad. Sooo much food! Server was great and checked on us often, keeping things moving without feeling rushed. Definitely will be going back soon.

Today we had lunch at King Kong. The place was half full, service was good, but unexpectedly slow. Food was good! Rainbow roll, Eel roll, spicy Cali roll, etc… we also really enjoyed the ginger dressing on our salad. We were with a party and over all just a couple order mix ups.
-1 star for weight time.

There are a lot of options for sushi. I ordered the SC roll crab cucumber roll and the super crunch roll. I loved the crab cucumber roll. I did not care for the SC roll and the super crunch was alright. It had a nice kick to it which was surprising. The sushi was underwhelming but the hibachi was amazing. It is a little different than normal as it tastes as tho your dad cooked it on his backyard grill and threw some extra pepper on it. I loved the flavor of the shrimp and the vegetables together was delightful. The white Sauce is thick and a tad sweet. It was actually good. Just different which is great bc it makes it their own. I thought the soup and salad was great and the service was incredible. If you want a drink they have a full bar. I thought the restaurant was clean and there were sanitation stations for those who need it.

It was a busy Saturday night but we didn’t have a long wait and definitely enjoyed our food here. The sushi was not the best I’ve ever had in my life but it was good. The soft shell crab was on point, really loved that. The shrimp siu mai was alright. My highlight that evening surprisingly was actually the ginger dressing for my salad! That was by far the tastiest ginger dressing I’ve ever had! Most likely will be back if we’re visiting Myrtle Beach again.

My first sushi experience and I loved it! The chef was super friendly and informative and they all had a great sense of humor! The food was delicious! And a big bonus, nobody laughed at me since it was my first time and I didn’t know how to eat it or use chopsticks lol! Can’t wait to do it again.
