Great place! Moving reviews over from Yelp and this was originally written in 2017:
“Hidden gem” pretty well describes this place. Small – only a handful of tables and a menu more that includes a fair amount of what you eat in Mexico when you manage to escape from the bubble that surrounds the tourist areas.
I had a torta. What I ordered wasn’t on the menu but they whipped it right up for me. I really like a chicken torta with a little chorizo added to make the flavors pop. Some places call this “tinga” and I like-a!
There were chips and salsa because there’s always chips and salsa. I enjoyed the salsa but thought the chips were more likely from a bag instead of made on-site.
My torta arrived and it was sizable. Any good torta is sizable, whether it is consumed here or in Mexico. That’s just the nature of a torta. The teleras bread is light and airy so the sandwich always looks large when it arrives.
Inside the sandwich I found exactly what I had asked for and one thing I rarely see in a torta: a shmear of refried beans. Believe it or not, it adds to an already complex sandwich. All veges were fresh, chicken was juicy, bread was light and airy, chorizo did it’s job too and the sandwich was delicious.
Definitely a hidden gem! I’ll choose a place like this over the “combo #7 lunch” joints 9 times out of 10. On the 10th, I’m going to Milagro or Mission Taco. I just can’t believe it took me THIS long to get around to stopping in for lunch.

King Burrito is absolutely amazing! I went in there for lunch today, and ordered a California Burrito to-go. This burrito is unwieldy, hefty. I’ve never held a burrito with so much mass before, it’s incredible. And it tasted phenomenal! 11/10, they treat everyone right!

I like their breakfast burrito a lot! I got it and it was pretty standard fare. So I asked the waitress for some green sauce. The sauce turned the burrito from fine to fantastic! Their coffee is standard diner coffee. Service is ok. I wish the waitresses there spoke more English so I could get some more thoughts on the menu, but they know enough to get my order correct and respond to basic questions. They aren’t super friendly though. It’s fine. I don’t care too much because that burrito is worth future visits alone.

I lived in San Diego for five years. I used to go to a place like this, but I could never find anything like it here. Been back in St Louis for 15 and this is the best breakfast burrito I’ve had since my time in SD. Might even surpass. Very good. Don’t sleep on the salsa either. If you like it hot, it’s hot. But not just heat, flavorful as well. ¡Muy Bien!

The food was hot and delicious. The staff was extremely nice. I asked for my rice and beans be stacked up with the chimichanga on top with the cheese placed on top of everything. They were happy to oblige my request with no hesitation. Everything I looked up. Staff was continously smiling. Good, happy workers make the customers happy as well.

This place was absolutely amazing. The portion sizes are enough to food 2/3 people easily. I had the chimichanga and it was perfectly seasoned and rolled . We also had the Cadillac margarita picture which was delicious. I will absolutely returning to try the rest of their menu items. This is a true authentic Mexican restaurant

This was my first visit to Burrito King. They had a tacos for $2.99. I decided to give them a try. The tacos were bland, and the meat was kinda dry. I took them home and made some fresh guacamole from my own avocados and added some sauce to enhance the flavor. If y’all decide to give them a try, be prepared to add your own seasoning.

We just got off a flight and were looking for something near the airport for lunch. This great little hole in the wall is within 2 miles of the airport, has a fun atmosphere/music, friendly staff and were able to seat us immediately. Their street tacos were delicious, served quickly, and priced right. We highly recommend King Burrito and will likely come here again next time we’re flying into STL.

We come here often. Everything is always fresh with big portions. Their lengua is really good and so are their breakfast burritos. Try the California breakfast burrito you’ll love it. My daughter loves their chocolate chip pancakes.
