However, two unusual issues stood out. I was told it was mandatory to leave my coat at the coat check, and when I declined, I was told they would take it anyway if I wasn’t wearing it. Later, there was no staff present at the coat check, meaning anyone could have taken any coat, which was concerning.
Also, no steak knife was provided with the filet mignon. When I asked for one, I was brought a very unusual, short butcher-style knife instead of a proper steak knife.
Good food, but these details negatively affected the overall experience.
Total tab with tip:
$165.00 for 1 person
Ambiance:
very good and not too noisy.
Food:
($85) so-so, temperature of everything was not perfect, in fact it was not hot and also not cold. I expected the rib eye steak to be sizzling and it was not.
($22) The chocolate cake dessert was hard, not soft and moist, and expensive. I did not even finish it.
($6) Coffee, not hot, not fresh. I asked for cream and i got 1%
Service:
Attentive and reasonable
Yes i should have asked for real milk instead of the watered down sort of cream that i got.
One thing i noticed is waiters during clean up of a table kept dropping things on the floor. It seemed constant throughout the evening.
Recommendation:
Nope, too expensive and not worth it.
It was a bland experience.
Im still trying to decide whether i should say i felt ripped off, or not. It is very close though coz i recalled the outback steakhouse coffee and chocolate cake was 50% much better and costs a lot less.
My friend and I recently had a lovely dinner at King Bar, a charming spot located inside the Garden City Hotel. The ambiance was elegant yet welcoming, perfect for a relaxed evening.
We started with the octopus, which was perfectly cooked—tender and flavorful. However, the highlight of the night was the risotto. Creamy, rich, and full of flavor, it quickly became my favorite dish. Both were absolute standouts and highly recommended.
Overall, the service was attentive, and the meal was excellent. We will definitely be back soon!
It’s a great place for a pre-dinner date night. It’s also nostalgic for us because we stayed here the evening prior to our wedding. My only suggestion would be add a few more appetizer options.
Restaurant was very empty at the time and waitstaff was busy preparing for dinner.
