I recently had the chance to visit Kimchi Guys, a Korean-inspired fusion restaurant tucked away in Edwardsville, Illinois. This review, unfortunately, is largely a disappointment rather than the culinary adventure I was hoping for.

This was $45! So disappointed. The first thing was being forced to use the kiosk to order… Is this Mc Donald’s? Price was outrageous for what we got. Bread of chicken sandwich was cold like it had been in the refrigerator and the bottom bun was half wet as if it had been in water. Waffle fries were lukewarm and soggy, the “monster” bowl was actually pretty small.. use the plastic forks in the photo to compare the size.. just some meat with soggy leftover rice on the bottom and a egg on top. A few others in the dining room agreed that they wouldn’t need to come back. Staff was robotic

The food is really good! Good flavor Good food! The atmosphere was off putting is all honesty though. The whole vibe just reminded me of a fast food place, which might be what they were going for but not my favorite. The service was fine. I understand people don’t like their jobs but that’s not the customers fault. Friendly staff and smiles go a long way in how people feel about eating at a place again. Good food tho, just might get take out next time.

Don’t let the name fool you, it isn’t all about kimchi. They are known for their Korean fried chicken, and I now see why. Our table got the KFC sandwich combo, the spicy KFC sandwich combo, chicken tacos and an appetizer of kimchi mandu (Asian dumplings). We were all super pleased with what we ordered, with the exception of the kimchi mandu, but this was totally my fault, as I prefer my dumplings steamed, and got them fried. 100% on me. The waffle fries were so good, no ketchup was needed. Please keep in mind, this place isn’t cheap, but if you dont mind paying for a good meal, give it a shot. I will definately be going back.

Extremely disappointing. The food was overpriced and underwhelming. I ordered the “monster” Korean fried rice bowl. It , along with a drink, was $22. I got a small bowl of mushy rice reminiscent of leftover nursing home pilaf. On top was a small portion of the two proteins. No veggies incorporated into the rice. It was disgusting. It literally seemed like leftover food at 1130 am. It should have been fresh. My dining partner got a chicken sandwich combo, and for $3 extra, a piece of lettuce and a tomato…..total of $19. So lunch was $44. Other people inside were also complaining and disgusted by the extremely high prices. It was all very disappointing . Definitely not worth it. Wang Gang and Oriental Spoon are far superior in every way.

I will say after trying this place for the first time, the food is excellent. I had the Korean chicken tacos and we ordered an appetizer of what was essentially potstickers. It was all very tasty, the tacos were fresh and spicy and tasted great, and they come with a side of chips and salsa. The salsa is unique but was very good.

Let me start by saying I’ve had Korean numerous times on the east and west coast in Koreatowns (LA and Annandale Va), so I have experienced with the cuisine and enjoyed it. I ordered the bibimbap, while the flavors were fine, nothing special compared to what I’ve had before, the amount of chicken was ridiculously small! Maybe a quarter or a third of a chicken breast at best, the bowl was 80-90% rice! Considering the price paid (over 15 dollars) it left a bad taste in my mouth! Penny pinching was far to evident in this dish and ruined the experience. If you have a very small appetite and don’t mind over spending in a fast food restaurant you may like this place. Everyone else should probably avoid. Try Oriental Spoon, better Korean already in town and you don’t leave hungry. Daughter had the chicken sandwich and told me it was good but not as good as Popeyes at nearly twice the cost!

I had a similar experience as most of the posters on here. Over priced, soda fountains that drip on you, mediocre food, etc.

We had take-out, ordered the wings, tenders & fries, rice/egg/chicken bowl. I have to say it was the biggest disappointment. All the food was cold, all the chicken was Over cooked chewy/hard & dry. So dry it went into trash. The place is like fast food with a outrageous price 60. + I called to complain and I get a recorder to leave message. No one for customer service. I left a number, I hope I get a call back! Right now im out 60.+ and no food.

The other two locations are far superior to this one. Some items I got here were good, others were cold or soggy. I can’t really recommend this location as a whole until they step it up significantly. The Lacledes Landing location is leagues better.
