Sadly, my recent experience at Kilwins in Petoskey was not great. I won’t go back. It was always a special place to go when I would visit my Mom in Harbor Springs. She’s been gone for years now, so I haven’t been in a long time.

The prices were very high compared to other fine chocolates. High prices won’t prevent me from having an occasional treat, but I expect an exceptional product. The white chocolate pretzel sticks are so stale as to be inedible. I am afraid to try the white chocolate coated cookie now!

I spent 32.00 on six pieces of candy. Of the six things I purchased, two were good, but not exceptional. Two I will throw out… the white oreo bark and the above mentioned pretzel. Others have not been tried as of now.

We also bought two single ice-cream waffle cones at an exorbitant price of 10.00 each. Both were tasty, but not better than other, much more reasonably priced premium ice-creams.

The staff was kind and helpful, the waffle cone and ice cream was tasty. But $10 for one scoop in a waffle cone is exorbitant, even in a tourism town.

The original. Great staff, great smell, great taste. Never heard of this place before and have now decided to visit each day of our vacation and try different flavors each day.

They make their own waffle cones!!!

I hate to throw shade on a local business, particularly one where the staff were so friendly and helpful to me, but for a place that specializes in chocolate, their product is of remarkably poor quality. It barely tastes or even smells like chocolate. I had not been to a Kilwins in many years and was excited to visit this one in Petoskey on Sunday. I purchased two each of several dark chocolate candies including the dark chocolate truffles, dark chocolate caramel pecan clusters, and dark chocolate covered sandwich cookies, and after eating the caramel pecan clusters, I sniffed the rest and threw it all out after detecting no signs of actual chocolate aroma. For a chocolate shop in a bustling, relatively wealthy tourist town, this is inexcusable.

The best ice cream in town. Clean and warm reception. Wonderful small town personalities. The chocolate is excellent. Comparable to Godiva. May I also suggest trying the lemon sorbetto, superb!

The staff here were absolutely wonderful—super friendly, patient, and generous with samples. I really appreciated how welcoming they were and how much effort they put into creating a good experience.

That said, the ice cream itself was a huge letdown. It was extremely overpriced and genuinely unpleasant. It was honestly some of the worst ice cream I’ve ever had.

The service was great, but unfortunately, the product just didn’t deliver at all. I wouldn’t return based on the ice cream alone.

Some great people and delicious treats! Everyone is always so friendly and happy to help out. This is a great location where you can get a treat and then walk it off shopping downtown.

Everything is made in the factory. They offer tours and the samples are large! A little pricey, but that quality and quantity is worth it.

$9 for a single scoop of icecream? Ridiculous. All their prices for everything else are similarly way out of what makes sense.

Great chocolate! Great ice cream! Great fudge! But definitely try a candied or caramel apple! OMG! Also their current summer theme is coconut and if you like coconut… heaven. I had a dark chocolate coconut bar and it was soooo creamy and delicious. Also, we purchased turtles the size of my husbands palm and also some salted caramels covered in dark and milk chocolate. The salts are from specific regions all over the world. It is a delight of the senses! The reason for 4 stars…it’s not cheap and not very kid friendly for multiple kids under 4. (Meaning- don’t go in here with a ton of kids-my kids are toddlers (twin boys who are 2) and were yelled at because they were running in the store. I understand safety for children, but yelling was unnecessary) Go here and get your hangry out of the way!
