On the second floor, there is a great view of the street as well as a nicely decorated seating and bar area. The Khao Poon, rice noodles in a red curry, was nice with good flavor. It was pretty empty when I went so service and food came out fast. Would comeback to try some of their specials and other Laotian dishes!
Their papaya salad is amazing. If you are not sure what Lao food looks like, go for Papaya salad combo!
Among main dishes, I personally like their Tilapia with pineapple sauce and Mee Kathi. For appetizer, both Ping Kai and Grilled pork shoulder (with sticky rice) are good.
I wish there is more sticky rice options. The sticky rice come with food is not usually enough. (And I miss their wooden rice container. Now they may not provide rice in it anymore).
To go to this restaurant, you need to climb up stairs.
Park at Forbes-Shady paid parking lot. Sunday is free for parking.
The reason why I don’t give five stars is because I wish they work on hygiene more.
The service could be better at times, but overall it was a good experience. It’s also a nice spot for a gathering of 6–8 people, as their seating is flexible for larger groups.
The bathroom is spacious.
The food was spectacular. Order it spicy; they give you a 1-10 scale and we ordered 7, but I’d go higher. My partner called the tofu “chicken light” and it really was!! So yummy but didn’t feel like you were missing any meat. The wide noodles may be the best I’ve ever had!
Service needs to be worked on. Took ages for someone to take our order. Luckily the food is phenomenal when it eventually came out.
Garlic noodles were outstanding according to my brother. The chicken was crispy, noodles were flavorful and had some heat. I ordered the catfish mok. I wanted to out of my comfort zone and wasn’t disappointed. As stated before, I wish it had more heat but the mix of red curry and steamed fish that fell apart when you put your fork through was heaven
Definitely check this place out!
