My only criticism is about the serving sizes. For me they’re quite an awkward size where it’s not quite enough for a full meal, but buying two would be far too much for one person. I’ve tried a few of the sides, but found them lacklustre compared to the mains, so my suggestion is this: offer your main meals in two sizes — one slightly smaller for around the $18–20 price point and one larger for a $26–28 price point. I wouldn’t mind paying more for such marvelous food. If the option to get an extra large portion was made available, I would instantly change my rating to five stars and proclaim this as the best restaurant in North Shore.
EDIT: I’ve just looked at the other reviews and seen that I am not alone in my criticism of the serving sizes. I hope this is something that the owners/chefs consider addressing.
Went for lunch and had a chicken lemongrass, and crispy pork belly. Both dishes were very good…Tastes quite authentic.
The place is very spacious from the inside, and has got a good fine dining arrangement. Pretty affordable as well.
Highly recommended.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with just the right balance of authenticity and comfort. It’s clear that Kun Pun has perfected the art of creating a welcoming space where every visit feels like a celebration.
We started our culinary journey with the Chef’s Special Combo Starters, which were a delightful medley of flavors and textures. Every bite was perfectly crafted, showcasing the chef’s skill and creativity.
For mains, we couldn’t resist trying:
• The Snapper, cooked to perfection with a crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat.
• The Squid, which was fresh, tender, and seasoned beautifully.
• The Chicken dish, bursting with rich, aromatic flavors that left us wanting more.
• The classic Pad Thai, a standout dish with the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy notes.
Every dish was a symphony of flavors that highlighted the restaurant’s commitment to quality and tradition. The presentation was impeccable, and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
To complement this feast, we had Cold Thai Tea, which was refreshingly sweet and smooth—truly a perfect way to round out the meal.
The service was attentive and friendly, and it’s clear why this restaurant has such a loyal following. Kun Pun Thai is more than just a restaurant; it’s a place where tradition, taste, and hospitality come together to create unforgettable experiences.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. We can’t wait to return!
Tom Khan Goong was OK but not outstanding, Mhon Thong was very average and bland.
We ordered the Hot Basil with Prawns and the Snapper with Ginger and Garlic as mains and they were both bland.
Service was fantastic.
We will go back for a second chance.
The basil chicken was delicious, but we were a bit disappointed with the tom yum. We felt that it should have more in the soup rather than a few pieces of chicken, mushroom and prawns. Prawns were big and juicy, though. The tom yum could also be a little bit more sour and less sweet, but hey, that’s just our taste!
Everything costed around $64. Service was amazing.. we might do lunch next! 🙂
