I can see why it has a five star rating. Food was excellent close to perfect. The restaurant was packed which is usually a very good sign. Good came fast and each dish was cooked to perfection. The mango sticky rice was the best I’ve had. You can tell if it’s good by their pork neck and Pad Thai. Both were top top quality. Definitely be back. Highly recommended

The staff was friendly, but the experience was disappointing. We ordered three dishes for two people, but the portions were tiny, we left hungry. The food presentation looks nice, but the taste is just average, I’ve definitely had better. The chicken, in particular, was terrible. To make things worse, our appetizer arrived after we had finished our main meals, and they even charged us for napkins. Not worth it.

I honestly can’t believe how bad my experience at Khap Khap in Saigon was. I’ve eaten at hundreds of Thai restaurants across Asia, and this one was by far one of the most disappointing. Nothing went right from start to finish, and it left me wondering how this place even has good reviews.
Let’s start with the basics: when I sat down, there were no napkins on the table. None. Not a single one. I looked around, but no table had any. I didn’t even bother asking because the staff looked disorganized and uninterested, so I ended up wiping my hands on the tablecloth like it was 1950. That already tells you a lot about the level of care in this restaurant.
Then came the first big red flag. I wanted to order a dish I had seen in one of the restaurant’s Google Maps photos — a bowl of Khao Soi, one of the most iconic Thai dishes. When I showed the photo to the waiter, he looked totally confused and said, “We don’t know that dish.” What? It’s literally your restaurant’s photo on Google! How can you not even recognize your own menu item? That was just absurd.
Still trying to give them a chance, we decided to order something simple — a Papaya Salad from the menu. A classic. Every Thai restaurant serves it. But a few minutes later, the waiter came back and told us they couldn’t make it because they didn’t have eggs. A restaurant without eggs? Are you serious? That’s like a café saying they can’t make coffee because they ran out of water. I couldn’t believe it.
At this point, we were already laughing in disbelief, so we decided to keep it simple and order Pineapple Fried Rice. It arrived quickly, but that’s the only good thing I can say about it. The flavor was completely off — nothing like the authentic Thai version. It tasted weird, overly sweet, and artificial. The rice had a strange aftertaste that made it hard to finish. It felt like someone who had never been to Thailand tried to guess what Thai food should taste like.
To make things worse, the staff never checked if we were okay, never smiled, and seemed annoyed to even be working there. The atmosphere was dull, and the service was careless from beginning to end.
Overall, Khap Khap was a total disappointment. No napkins, clueless staff, missing ingredients, and terrible food. If you’re looking for real Thai food in Saigon, please go somewhere else. There are plenty of better options in the city where the staff actually care and the food tastes like it should.
This place was a complete waste of time and money, and I’ll definitely never come back.

I am extremely disappointed with this place. We chose it solely because of the perfect 5/5 rating and thousands of reviews, which I now believe must be fake or a scam because the reality was awful. We ordered pineapple fried rice with shrimp, Pad Thai, chicken with cashews, and tamarind eggs for a starter. The service was incompetent from the start, our appetizer arrived last, when we were already almost finished eating the mains, which makes no sense. The portions were shockingly small compared to other places in Ho Chi Minh City, usually, we are full after sharing two dishes, but here we ordered four and still left half-hungry because we refused to spend any more time or money in this place. The food quality was poor, specifically the chicken, which looked badly butchered and unappetizing, while the overall flavors were just average and nothing special. To make matters worse, when we wanted to leave, we had to wait 10 minutes just to get the bill because the staff completely ignored us. This is a terrible restaurant that I advise everyone to avoid, do not trust the hype.

A restaurant with this price, category and concept should not charge if you need napkins and they just have tissues, especially if they don’t provide anything else for cleaning your hands. Food was good, the portion of rice could be better (it is very small)

We had a wonderful time at Khap Khap in District 3, enjoying happy moments over fresh, flavorful Thai dishes that were beautifully balanced and satisfying. The cozy atmosphere made the experience even better, and every plate felt thoughtfully prepared. We truly enjoyed the visit and will definitely come back for more delicious Thai food.

First time try out this Thai restaurant. Services, staff and food are all really outstanding.
This bistro is quiet different from other bistro. The atsmostphere that it brings, make you feel more than just bistro. Especially, the people here.
Please give it a try whenever you would like to find new experience in Thai cuisine. This restaurant and Kohyam is 2 of my best Thai restaurant in town

Found another gem of a Thai restaurant in the alley (hem) in district 3. Opened just over a year ago but didnt know of this.

This restaurant impressed me most was the service. (My waitress was Ms Nhu). Super attentive and very patient throughout the experience.

The food overall was terrific not many complaints. The only thing is each dish was a bit on the sweet side. Perhaps they can reduce the sugar
input.

Very pleased with the restaurant, the service, the food, and the price

Definitely coming back, but also will be making recommendations to my foreign friends

Great job khap Khap
