Finally stopped in to try this cozy little spot and will be back!
Had Khaosoi with Tempura, Khaosoi with Soft Shell Crab, and Pad Thai with Chicken.
The Pad Thai was good and worth ordering again but honestly I’ve had Pad Thai as good at a few different places. The standout for this first visit was the Khaosoi. What an amazing bowl of rich, savory, warm, slightly sweet, creamy and pleasantly spicy deliciousness!
The noodles remind me of freshly made but thinner ramen noodles. Tender and slightly chewy. It comes with a whole boiled egg, onions, picked veggies which go great with the broth and noodles.
I would have preferred a little not broth and was told I could ask to have a little more next time but it was delish regardless. Four hours later and I’m wishing I had another bowl in front of me.
It is clean, cozy, and cute. Nothing fancy but you’re there to eat, not contemplate interior decor.
Service was pleasant, attentive, but not at all intrusive. My new Khaosoi in the region.
I’m on a mission to figure out which restaurant in SF makes a mean Khao soi and I think Khaosoi Thai Cuisine was a great start.
It’s a very petite sit down spot with about a half dozen tables. The service is nice. My hostess was attentive and very sweet.
The food was very good. The Khao Soi was rich and the beef was SOOOO tender and a heardy proportion. I’d love to come back to try more dishes. I’m surprised to say but I wish the papaya salad was spicier but still very good. I also feel I will regret saying that when I get my next salad. Also I took the mango sticky rice to go (the rice was purple, fun!)…it was sooo good once I got home.
Portions were generous and very satisfying. For dessert, we had “Mama’s Favorite” with sticky rice and corn and it was delicious and nicely balanced, not overly sweet. Also I tried the blue lychee drink, which was super refreshing and fun.
Service was fast, and the space itself is clean, cozy, and nicely decorated. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.
Overall a cute place to grab food if you are in the area and don’t want to wait.
The Pad Thai had a bit more of a tomato flavor than expected, but it was still enjoyable. The Khao Soi with fried chicken was a standout—the broth was creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced. The chicken was well-marinated and crispy, making for a great texture contrast.
We’ll definitely be returning! 🙂
