Our visit to Khaki Restaurant in San Ramon was a highlight for vegetarian dining, made even better by service that was way above expectations. Although we arrived much earlier than our 9pm reservation and had a bit of a wait, the host was incredibly attentive and ensured we were well looked after throughout the evening. Once seated, we decided to try all the vegetarian appetizers, and every single one was excellent. The Sweet Potato & Patta Chaat was perfectly balanced, and the Edamame Avocado Bhel provided a refreshing, modern twist that we loved. The Jackfruit Cutlet was another standout, packed with flavor and expertly prepared. Between the top-tier hospitality and the creative menu, it was a fantastic experience.

Had such a great experience at Khaki in San Ramon. The first thing that stood out was the ambiance — warm lighting, stylish interiors, and a very inviting vibe that instantly feels a bit special without being over the top. It’s a perfect place for a relaxed date night, a girls’ night out, or even a celebratory dinner.

The food was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. We really enjoyed the Sweet Potato & Patta Chaat, Samosa, Parsi Chicken Keema, Meen Polichathu, and the Zucchini Ricotta Kofta — great balance of flavors and plenty of excellent vegetarian options. The cocktails were just as impressive, especially the Matcha Mule and Mango Mojito. We ended with the Gulab Jamun Crème Brûlée, which was a fun and delicious twist on a classic.

Finally – a true Indian fine dining experience! Khaki is a phenomenal Indian restaurant in the East Bay with a well-curated menu. The edamame avocado bhel and the ragda pani puri are great examples of starters that put an innovative twist on popular dishes while maintaining their authentic nostalgia-inducing flavors. The paneer pinwheel was a rich, creamy, delicious (and gorgeous) entree for paneer lovers. They also have a great cocktail menu. The staff were all lovely and very attentive. The ambience was great for everything from a solo meal or family outing to a romantic date night. Will definitely visit again and again to try all the other amazing things on the menu.

We truly can’t say enough good things about the dining experience at Khaki Indian Food at City Center Bishop Ranch. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out as some of the best we’ve experienced in a long time. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, every need anticipated, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for throughout the evening.

The atmosphere at Khaki is elegant and elevated without feeling stuffy. It’s the kind of place that feels perfect for a special occasion, an anniversary, a celebration, or even a memorable date night when you want something that feels a little extra special. The drinks alone are worth the visit. Each cocktail was crafted with real intention, beautiful presentation, balanced flavors, and a clear sense of passion behind the bar.

The food absolutely delivered. The vegetarian options were outstanding, with every appetizer and main course impressing us in its own way. Flavors were layered, thoughtful, and deeply satisfying. And the naan. Hands down, the best naan bread we’ve ever had. Soft, warm, perfectly cooked, and impossible to stop eating.

If you’re anywhere near San Ramon and looking for an exceptional dining experience, try Khaki right away. It’s the kind of restaurant you leave already planning your return visit.

Sometimes the hype gets the better of you. Walked in without reservation on a Friday evening and the hostess asks if we can be done by 7:30 PM. We were done on time and there were a whole bunch of empty tables. The bill was wrong, a dish that we did not order was added. That was corrected promptly. Now for the food, average to say the least when you expect magic knowing the lineage of the chef et al.
I have had better champaran mutton elsewhere, flavor wise. The quality of the mutton matters too. The Parsi chicken keema was pretty good. Overall portion sizes are pretty small but I can live with that. My highlight was the gulab jumon creme brûlée.
I was excited to see the owner in person and excitedly greeted him and shook his hand.
For the background of the ownership and upscale price etc, I think they can do much better.

Edited as of 10/30/25 – the wife went back for lunch today and had a superior meal and she got me some champaran mutton which was delicious.

We had a great experience here for our wedding anniversary. The staff got complimentary Champagne, appetizer and a handwritten card. It was a nice personal touch. The prawn appetizer was really good. The food and service were great overall. Loved it.

Solid contemporary Indian eats at San Ramon!
Most dishes hit the spot, but Champaran mutton felt a bit off-authentic.
Desserts stole the show, though.
Service was a drag, kept us waiting for food. 4
stars, would’ve been 5 with speedier service.

Absolutely delightful experience! This Indian restaurant captures the authentic flavors of Bengal perfectly — from the subtle spices in the mustard Dak Bangla curry to the comforting taste of Gulab Jamun Creame Brulee. Every dish felt home-cooked yet refined, with just the right balance of spice and sweetness. The ambience was warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend it to anyone craving for not-so-routine Indian comfort food done right!
