This place needs to be shut down. I don’t think there is a fast food place in the St. Louis region with as low of a rating as this KFC. It’s a reflection of the owner who is franchising here. Fast food isn’t hard to make.
The so called GM in the store ( smart ass red head) told me I was old and should act my age when I asked for the
Cute young man behind the counter gave me a coupon book because he felt bad the person in charge talked to me that way
I went through the drive through during the first trip to this store. This was several months ago, but I remember that even though there was only one person in front of us in line who had already ordered and was already waiting at the window, it still took 10+ minutes for us to receive our food. Then, when we got home, we found that we were missing food. We didn’t go back to get the missing food or contact anyone about it at the time. This happens every once in a while at basically any fast food place, and I just didn’t feel like it was worth dealing with at the time.
The second trip happened last night, and is the trip that convinced me not to return so long as the current staff or management are still employed there.
We placed on order online through the company website while we were driving that direction, about 15 minutes away. This was the first time we’d ordered KFC online. The order confirmation stated that it would be ready in 10 minutes. We arrived at the store several minutes after the time it was supposed to be ready.
I first tried going through the drive through to pick it up, but was told through the speaker that I would need to go inside. This was an immediate red flag for me, because typically when fast food requires you to go inside to pick up your online order, that means that they don’t actually start preparing it until after you arrive at the store. I don’t know how going inside makes my order any different than a regular drive through order in that case, though, but whatever. I went inside.
I walk inside, go up to the counter, and wait for an employee to come to the counter or at least be visible so that I can get their attention. There’s already another customer waiting at the end of the counter. I hear someone in the kitchen say that there’s customer at the counter, but no one comes out. After a couple minutes, one employee does emerge from behind the kitchen equipment, makes eye contact with me, gives me a head nod, and then disappears back behind the equipment.
About this time, my wife who was waiting in the car comes inside to see what’s taking so long. I tell her that I’m still waiting to talk to someone. The other customer who was waiting at the other end of the counter then tells us that she’s actually a DoorDash driver, and had been waiting to pick up an order for about 10 minutes, which is usual.
We managed to flag down the employee working the drive through to ask him about our order. He asked for the name on the order, and then disappeared into the kitchen. After a few minutes, he returned to the drive through window and started cleaning around the fountain machine. No one came to let us know anything. While waiting, though, we heard multiple times employees asking which order items belonged to, and a bunch of “I don’t remember” in reply.
Finally, an employee comes out of the kitchen holding a single bag and hands it to the DoorDash driver. The bag was unsealed, so she starts looking through it and notices that items are missing and lets the employee. We decided that would couldn’t wait any longer because we had cold groceries sitting in the car, so we stopped the employee before she could return to the kitchen. I told her we couldn’t wait anymore and asked if they would be able to cancel the order. She says she’ll go talk to her manager and returns to the kitchen.
Now, the employee who made eye contact with me earlier comes to the front and approaches the DoorDash driver, asking her “what’s the problem?” We tell him that we can’t wait for our order any longer and want to cancel the order. He responded pretty immediately with “you have to do it through the app, we can’t do anything about it here.”
My wife started to say something to him, but then stopped and just told him “thank you” and turned to leave. I followed her out, and on the way out the manager was still yelling at us about having to use the app to cancel the order.
The kitchen also reeked of weed. Go figure.
Get here at 5:30, and at 5:40 they tell me it’s a 30 minute wait on chicken. Finally left at 6:10
