KettleFish location was a long time toy store and restaurant named Kelly’s. It is is hard to replace Kelly’s but have to say that they did a great job on remodeling the place. The service was fabulous by everyone and we appreciated that the manager and other staffed checked on us. The place was very clean and more importantly, fabulous food. Being Scottish and raised on fish, I am critical when it comes to good fish and this was really good Alaskan Cod, fresh, light breading and large portions. The fries were hot and crispy, creamy chowder and coleslaw. If you wrapped it in newspaper you would think you were in Europe. What I really like is that they honor our military by offering a military discount. Thank you to the owners for being so respectful. This is a great location by the water and I hope it does well. We will return.

I had the 2 piece cod fish n chips. Super flakey cod, and the batter was a crisp outer layer of texture. Not greasy at all. The deep fry here is perfected. Enjoy the photos of the interior and the cod!

I love Clam chowder but am rarely impressed. Having grown up in New England I typically wonder how so many are considered ‘Award Winning’. The NE Clam Chowder at KettleFish may have been the best I have ever had. In fact, I think it is the BEST.

We thought we would try the new local seafood place tonight here in Gig Harbor and I have to say I’m very disappointed. The fries were soggy, limp and tasteless, the fish tasted like the store bought frozen fish, didn’t taste fresh at all. Portions were small… pictured below is a double cod and chips. You’d be hung drawn and quartered for serving this as fish and chips in Ireland. Marque Mac got clam chowder and a shrimp cocktail and my lord the portion size was pathetic… it wasn’t too expensive for seafood but this was not value for money. Don’t think I’ll ever be back…

Excellent clam chowder! The cod and chips was delicious and was perfectly cooked. We loved the clam chowder so much we bought extra to take home for dinner. Great place

Changed my idea of great fish and chips. Love the extra seasoning on the perfectly crispy fries. Will return. (Added photo of great Guinness Clams and Mussels! A must try dish. )

Gets busy at noon! Some seating, but you can watch them cook. The Clam Chowder is better quality than Ivars, I said it! Perfect for a rainy day

Not impressed with KettleFish in Gig Harbor. The menu looked good online so we gave it a shot. The restaurant is poorly laid out. The actual dining space is small by comparison to the rest of the restaurant. The service was mediocre. Not very helpful and not very friendly.
The portions are small for the price. We ordered two meals, two drinks and two waters that came to almost $50.00 which is not astronomical but one would expect decent sized meal for that price. The prawn basket had five shrimp on a heap of greasy fries. They tasted great but again, it was literally five small shrimp. The clams, which were marble sized bits and pieces, not strips at all, were way overcooked and also accompanied by generous portion of greasy fries. The cocktail sauce and tartar sauce were very good.
The people sitting next to us had the crab mac & cheese and a bowl of steamers. It looked pretty good and they seemed to enjoy it.
