You want good barbecue you gotta wait. I once waited 20 minutes for them to make me a bbq sandwich to go. I watched the owner Ken drink his iced tea, answer the phone, and make his barbecue orders.. they put the ticket in front of him and he goes through it one by one…I was unlucky to be stuck behind a big catering order.. Finally, the staff had to go up and pester him about my sandwich. Which took him two seconds to scoop out and put on a bun. Also he forgot my skin. They usually put a piece of crackling on top of the bun. You just have to sit there and not complain too much . It’s OG ENC barbecue here (though I think they use gas, not wood).

Everything is “made to order” with loving care! BBQ is outstanding!! Hushpuppies even better!! Ken’s Big Boy is the bomb !! The best BLT ever! Don’t know if there is anything on the menu not good, but I’m going to find out……. See you there for lunch!

I think we got the last piece of white chicken
Our burgers were excellent.
Just exactly what I would expect a simple & delicious homemade burger patty to be.
There was a small problem with our order but it didn’t detract from the outstanding service or the quality of the food.
Service was excellent fast and friendly.
We will be back.

Pork cooked on Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays….the best eastern NC BBQ I have had. The cheese burgers are fresh and cooked to order, again, awesome.
I was born and raised in New Bern NC but live in SC now. When I come this way I will stop even when I’m not hungry….yes, it’s that good.

By far one of theeeee BEST burgers you will ever have in your life. Think old school burger joint. No frills, nothing fancy – just good ole fashioned eating. And don’t get me started on the onion rings. I’ve never had a bad experience!!!!!

We are on the way to the beach, down from Richmond and love NC vinegar based BBQ. On a whim we pulled in the Ken’s Grill at about 1:20 on Saturday. Every table had been occupied moments earlier. Every table was bused in under 5 minutes. We ordered a ‘snack tray’ described as pork and slaw. I never expected the large portion they served alongside a few tasty hush puppies. The best tasting snack ever!!! Sweetest servers and friendly kitchen folks too. So happy we stopped here as our first beach vacation lunch.
