I’m OBSESSED! This has to be my all-time favorite hand roll sushi bar EVER! the kind of place that becomes your go-to after just one visit. Seriously. People there know my name 🙂 The menu is simple but perfect: you choose a set of 3, 4, 5, or 6 hand rolls… and I always go for the 6. No regrets, ever.

The rolls come out one by one, freshly made, warm/cole and absolutely delicious. They respectfully wait for you to end your roll to offer you the next and are always mindful of the changes you might like to do. My favorites are the tuna toro, salmon, yellowtail and scallops, are consistently amazing. The fish is so fresh, the flavors are clean and the texture is perfect every time. My favorites are the creamy scallops! They do have other food options on the menu, but honestly? I never even look at them because the hand rolls are just that good.

And I have to say it: the warm rice is unbeatable. It takes every roll to another level, and once you’ve had it here, it ruins other sushi spots in the best possible way.

The prices are surprisingly great for the quality, which is probably why I keep coming back and why I bring all my friends with me. It’s one of those places that turns everyone into a repeat customer. The environment is chique an unique and even if there is a line, it goes fast.

If you love hand rolls, this spot is a must. Fresh, flavorful, affordable and consistently amazing. I could eat here every week… and honestly, I probably do.

*cold moments don’t miss out the hot tea 🙂

*to go options available but not as hand rolls, only cut rolls

To start off, the service is impeccable , place is nice and the restaurant offers a free parking upon validation. The price is affordable as well for such a location.

My disappointment is mainly on the bland hand rolls that all taste the same, and the amount of rice is way more than fish.

Unique sushi experience in LA. This Original Hand Roll Sushi Bar only makes hand rolls and cut rolls. It’s a small set menu and limited drinks. Local patrons pop in and out for a quick meal. Seating is tight and is first come, first serve. There’s garage structure and street parking available.
I got the Set Menu of 5 Hand Rolls. For me, it was fresh and satisfying with fun 80s and 90s music playing in the background.
The service was friendly and accommodating. They have other locations to try too.

Always a good choice. If you know you know. This place never disappoints. There’s a reason there are so many of them all over LA. This one is another great hand roll spot.

I hadn’t been successful in going to the one near me, so I was pretty happy to find this one near the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. It didn’t take too long to get through the short queue and be seated at the bar. We quickly wrote our orders  on the paper menu and settled back to watch the action behind the bar.

Take one seaweed sheet, grab a handful of cooled down rice from the large pot, grab a small amount of fish, bring the two ends of the seaweed sheet together, place on a piece of paper in front of the diner, and repeat. This meant food was delivered quickly and all the diners had something to eat most of the time and reminded me of those games I occasionally play, but you don’t get all your rolls at the same time. The rolls, however, were pretty bland without added ingredients apart from seaweed, rice and very minimal fish. In fact, most of the rolls tasted the same.

I liked the layout of the bar as you can watch them work. Only one of the servers was helpful and always had a smile – such a rarity these days. They don’t accept Apple Pay or Google Wallet here. This one has been ticked off the to-do list, but it doesn’t satisfy my palette.

Saturday night was crowded, but we only had to wait about 30-40 minutes before getting seated. It’s always delicious.

The atmosphere was the only saving grace for this place. For a fancy sushi roll place, they don’t offer a simple yet humble bowl of rice. I asked the server if I can have a bowl of rice on the side and I was willing to pay for a simple bowl of rice. The server told me that the kitchen refused to make me a simple bowl of rice when right in front of me was a big pot of rice that they used to make their rolls. It’s like me asking for a cup of water with no ice and they refuse to give me a cup with no water with ice when I’m just simply asking for one less thing in the cup it’s not that hard. I could’ve made my own bowl myself. I wasn’t asking for nachos in a sushi restaurant I was simply asking for a bowl of rice make it make sense. Never coming back here again.

Not my first visit and definitely not my last. The hand rolls are always fresh, simple, and packed with flavor. The seaweed is crisp, the fish is high quality, and everything is made right in front of you, which adds to the experience. It’s quick, consistent, and satisfying every single time.

Very disappointed in this place. There was nothing remarkable about its handrolls. It was rolled in a simple cylinder, and many of the fish inside were cut up into little pieces, not full slices of sashimi. Honestly, I feel as though you could make these at home if you bought sushi grade fish. The only thing that was nice was the rice, which was warm, had a nice texture, and a nice taste. Disappointed in the quality of the fish.
House made unfiltered sake is pretty nice though, and the bar environment is pretty nice. Limited seating, so come early or be prepared for a short wait.

Hand rolls were good. Got the six set. Could live without the crab , kinda had a tuna vibe to it. My favourite is the scallop. Service was good. Went an hour before close and got seating easily. Don’t necessarily like how the seats are fixed to the ground and you have to six really close to the people beside you. The prices are fair. The 6 set is filling but I order one extra to be really good.
