We had such a great experience at Kazu! The service was absolutely above and beyond, and the prices were very fair. They have a fantastic happy hour special from 4–6 PM and plenty of gluten-free options for any GF friends or those with celiac — super thoughtful! The food was overall delicious (although the salmon teriyaki and California roll from the bento box weren’t my personal favorites), but everything else we tried was so yummy. We’ll definitely be coming back and recommending Kazu to anyone we know in the area!
Menu – 5 Stars (really inventive)
Service – 5 Stars
Food – 4 stars
What a find. Our normal sushi spot is closed on Monday night, so this was the highest rated restaurant that was nearby. So glad we ventured out because the service was amazing and the menu was really inventive and unique. The restaurant is clean and parking is plentiful, so those items are good.
But the food itself:
Seaweed Salad – refreshing, delicious, solid choice
Side Salad – solid choice, fresh, maybe lettuce cut was too thick, but ginger dressing was delicious.
Shrimp Tempura – really good
Philadelphia Roll – nothing special but it was a solid roll.
Black Dragon Roll – good, but description was better.
Sweet Potato Roll – a family favorite and they do it well.
NY, NY Roll – another, it was good but the description was better. It just was not very flavorful.
Salmon Lovers Roll – OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS. Get this roll, better yet get two.
Smoked Salmon Roll – ooh, another great one. I am seeing a trend with good salmon.
There are half a dozen items I would like to try, so I am making plans for my next visit.
I called the restaurant and spoke to the same woman, who admitted she forgot to include the rice and asked me to come back the next day to pick it up. I went out of my way to return and was planning to place another order (fried rice and two chicken teriyaki meals). I asked for a small discount—at least $5—to make up for the inconvenience, but after checking, they said they could only offer $1 off.
Mistakes happen, but the lack of effort to make things right was disappointing. In the end, they lost a $35 customer and future visits over a single dollar.
Their lunch bento box is very reasonable- $12.50 ! Lunch 3 sushi rolls – $12.95
They also have happy hours (4:30pm – 6pm ) too – if you get one special sushi roll , get one regular sushi roll for free!
