Kaw-Lija’s – Savor Delicious Comfort Food in Eagle Nest, NM
Reviews
We drove over from Angel Fire just for the ice cream. Since they allow dogs we brought our two Aussies. There’s a great side patio with several tables to enjoy with your pups.
They also have regular food but we were only looking for ice cream after our lunch.
The young lady taking care of us was awesome! They even gave us pup cups with whipped cream.
The ice cream was scrumptious. Sorry no pictures because it was so good I didn’t stop take them. Don’t forget to look inside for their giant cookies.
Had the country fried steak sandwich, I’ve never had anything like it before. It was 10/10 delicious. Emily was our host, she was fabulous, so sweet and took the best care of us. We had a great chat. Perfect local charm! Highly recommended it.
This place has really gone down hill. Only stop here for ice cream, but know they have less than half the flavors that they used to. Luckily, its pre-made, so it shouldn’t be bad.
My kids ordered a burger and it was flavorless at best and the cold fries had that “its been sitting out too long” texture.
I ordered a baked potatoe. I never knew you could mess up a baked potatoe, but turns out, you can. It’s was undercooked, flavorless, and only had cheese and a tiny bit of turkey (they were out of pulled pork and I didnt get sour cream, even after being offered it, then having to ask again for it later).
We had to find someone if we needed anything. The staff didnt talk to us unless we sought them out.
Very disappointing. Eagles Nest used to be such a fun place to go. People would come if they had decent food and service. NOT eating here again! No wonder people drive straight through to angel fire or red river.
Come on, you guys can do better.
My friend and I stopped in on our way to Taos from Folsom where I spend my summers away from my winter home in a small town outside of Tucson. I had not ever stopped in Eagles Nest before but the sign out front that shouted “Espresso” was the tractor beam that drew us in. Again, sadly, the only employee managing the entire restaurant (!), ice cream section, and front checkout was a single woman who appeared to be real recently hired. Like yesterday.
She was definitely doing her best in a sinking submarine. There we 16 customers inside and one employee. The manager was in back, with his door open, doing nothing to help. Ouch!
Our “waitress” was a nice lady who needs a new job somewhere else…..
Separate.
Everything was fresh. But just okay overall for price.
The service people are friendly but lack in following up with service. We order our food and drinks. After 15 minutes we had to ask if we could have our drinks before we received our meals
They are friendly but rather lacking in Follow up
We were there 45 minutes before the food came. They were half full of customers during the time at the restaurant
Everything is priced separately. Ask for coffee which received but they ran out so NO second cup of coffee? Strange
