Mexican eatery serving traditional fare in a rustic, adobelike building since 1949.

Bought the red chili con carne, beans, and rice to go. For the price, the serving is terrible compared to other mexican restaurants. If you’re a grown man you may wanna skip this place. The food was not eaten just pushed to the side so you can get a good idea of the portions. The food actually was good, the tortilla is a good size but a sad portion size, and I dont really eat a lot. I dont know maybe eating in they serve you more. Ill skip this place next time. 2 stars just because it tasted good.

Lovely property you wouldn’t know was a restaurant if the street sign didn’t say. It’s location kinda sneaks up on you too, like it’s not a heavily commercial area. I did a u-turn to choose it for lunch today, since I couldn’t even say the name of it! Not too busy at noon, seemingly all locals. Inside is a charmingly decorative food hall vibe, emphasis on beer memorabilia. Service was fast, friendly and spirited!! Menu selection leaves a lot to come back for. I selected the weekday lunch special for $12. My chimchanga fed me twice and was good altho I’ll stick to fajitas probably from now on lol.

My mom and I went here for lunch and to meet her Badgeret classmates from Tucson high. We were all seated together in a back room so it was okay if we got a little loud . There was a bunch of chips and salsa at intervals all the way down the long line of tables for everyone to enjoy while we waited. Everyone had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed their food. Mom got the special a2 $10.95 (she went with two cheese enchiladas) and I got a chicken chcucurcho special $15.00. One of the ladies got a tanichopa salad and I just had to get a picture because it looked so delicious and she couldn’t remember the name of it just that it started with a T. I will definitely be trying it next time. I did not get a picture of everyone’s food there was just too many and people wanted to dig in as soon as the food arrived because it smells so good. One of the ladies got chili rellenos and two other ladies were so impressed with it that they got orders to go. I didn’t get a picture of the cinnamon sweet tea but I thought it was very delicious and had two glasses. Our waitress Diavian was wonderful and took really good care of us. She was even nice enough to get a couple of group pictures for us. You can see how happy she is (in the last picture) holding the long line of receipts from our group

Delicious, delicious, delicious! Yummy, yummy, yummmmy!!
The gorditas here are handmade—wow! The chile colorado is authentically Sonoran: rich in flavor, not too spicy, just perfectly seasoned.
We also had the steak , cooked to perfection and served with fries and a fresh salad—so good!
The Sonora-style barbacoa came with beans, rice, and a crisp lettuce salad. Also incredibly delicious.
And for dessert… flan! Smooth, creamy, and absolutely satisfying.
This place went beyond my expectations amazing food, super clean, and very friendly service. Highly recommend!

Hubby and I have been here before. We really like the food and that it’s a local eatery that’s been in town a long time. The service was just ok. Again, my biggest pet peeve is that once our food arrives, the server came once and then, not again until after we were done eating. My husband wanted a refill on his drink and was going to order something else, but he didn’t because our server never came back! Look, having been a server once you give the customer their food you check your other tables, come back about 5 minutes later do a quick check, leave & wait another 5-7 minutes, ask if refills are needed and do the same thing at least one to 2 more times for all your tables. Ask if dessert is an option, and wrap up if it’s not. It’s not a lot to provide great service ESPECIALLY if you’re not that busy. Our server was nice, when she was there. We will be back though.

The best chicken mole enchiladas I’ve ever had. This restaurant is a gem for authentic Mexican food in an unassuming roadhouse atmosphere. We’ll be back!

Opening in 1949, Karichimaka is one of the few iconic restaurants still in operation. I remember going to it in the 1970’s. The food is still great and the service is excellent. I had the chicken enchiladas, 2 for $12 (a la cart, no rice or beans). I was only able to finish one of them as they were good size and full of chicken.

Older authentic looking Mexican restaurant with several family members as staff. GREAT Mexican food for decent prices with take home size portions. We go here often and have never been disappointed. Try the margarita cheesecake!! It’s so rich.
