The toffee chocolate chip cookies are really delicious here I usually buy a dozen and freeze for later. Had the eggs Florentine today and wasn’t into it as it was so much egg without much flavor. Disappointing at $20. Their deli salads are fantastic as are their pastries. My fave is their orzo salad, yum! Staff are very friendly and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Warm vibe overall with plants.

This is my favorite coffee/bakery spot in the Folsom area. Every time i’m visiting, I come here, you know, for lovely food and great coffee. The patio is in a fantastic spot. Fresh flowers. Sunshine. Foliage. Butterflies. Quaint little downtown atmosphere. I usually have white chocolate mocha coffee, fantastic the blueberry or lemon crumble danish of some sort with fresh local fruit. Today, I had a spinach strawberry salad with blue cheese crumbles & candied pecans. But the quiche looked so tempting.

We had heard about this place and decided to check it out ourselves. Frankly speaking, we didn’t like it. Buying breakfast for almost $30 and getting a plate half full of fried potatoes It was funny. The guys are obviously big and they don’t have enough people, the waitress girls are standing around chatting calmly about how their Friday party went, while the customers are sitting and waiting for 20 minutes for coffee. Coffee! Waiting for the food to cook is ok. But 20 minutes for coffee ‍♀️ They brought me a sandwich with burnt bacon and a bunch of potatoes. Oh, I already talked about them In general, these guys win with their location. But not with delicious food, or pleasant service, or a cozy atmosphere. I think they need an upgrade.

A Truly Delightful Spot — Karen’s Bakery
Karen’s Bakery has become one of my favorite places to visit, and I find myself going back regularly. There’s something so welcoming and comforting about this bakery — from the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth, the sweet aroma of freshly baked goods, and a sense of calm that makes it feel like a little sanctuary in the middle of the day.
I especially love sitting outside. The seating area is charming and peaceful, perfect for enjoying a quiet morning with a cup of coffee or an afternoon treat. It’s one of those rare spots where you can watch the world go by, relax, and really savor the moment.
The baked goods are consistently outstanding. Every pastry, muffin, and loaf I’ve tried has been fresh, flavorful, and lovingly prepared. You can tell the staff care deeply about quality and presentation. The coffee is also excellent — rich, smooth, and perfectly paired with any of the bakery treats.
Beyond the food, what makes Karen’s Bakery truly special is the staff and atmosphere. Everyone is friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to serve you. It’s a place where regulars are remembered by name, and new visitors immediately feel welcome. The overall vibe is cozy, uplifting, and heartwarming.
Whether you’re stopping by for a quick pastry, lingering with coffee, or meeting friends for a relaxed chat outside, Karen’s Bakery is a place that always feels inviting and special. I can’t recommend it highly enough — it’s a little gem that brightens your day every time you visit.

A friend recommended we try this place. It was a rainy day so we sat inside (They have a nice little patio!) and it was a little busy but we were able to find a table. I tried the orange mocha and it was absolutely fabulous!! My avocado toast was so delicious and had a variety of flavor notes. We wish the bear claw had more of a true almond paste inside, but it was still really good. I want to tell the world about how amazing this little places is, but then it would get too crowded and really I just want to keep it all for myself.

First time visiting. We drive by it often and finally decided to go. We ordered the quiche and the brioche breakfast sandwich. We sat on the patio which was nice. The wait to recieve our order was not bad. Where it started going downhill was when they brought our food. They bought a breakfast burrito, which the server took back to confirm the order. She returned a couple of minutes later confirming they made the wrong dish. Not a big deal as mistakes can happen. We proceeded to wait 20 min with still nothing brought to us, while I ate the quiche. The quiche was good, but because I thought my husband’s item would be out in about 5 min, I waited to eat it. My husband encouraged me to eat while it was still slightly warm. I was not a fan of the potatoes. My husband tired of waiting for his brioche so he asked for a refund for his item, and they provided one.

My feedback to this restaurant is when you make the wrong dish and everyone else is served, the wrong dish is expedited so the one person isn’t sitting there waiting for their order. Very disappointing, and we do not plan to return.

This is a wonderful spot to enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch or just dessert.
The service was kind. The baked goods are delicious and the atmosphere is welcoming and quaint.
The portions on our breakfast were large and the food was not only delicious, but the presentation was a feast for the eyes.
The outdoor patio offers a quieter, more intimate atmosphere than the bustle of the indoor cafe.
This was a wonderful find, just off of Sutter Street.

Friendly staff, nice indoor/outdoor seating, food was just ok. It says something when the bowl of fruit was more exciting than the entrees.

Stopped by on a Saturday around 11am and this place was slammed — line going out the door kind of busy. (TIP: Figure out what you want to order and then send someone from your group to go snag a table while waiting in line.)

The Broccoli & White Cheddar Quiche had a strange crust — chewy rather than flaky. It needed a hit of salt and pepper to give it some flavor. Would not order again.

The Grilled Chorizo Breakfast Burrito reads beautifully on the menu but eating it was a different experience. For about 3/4 of the burrito everything had the same soft, almost minced texture until you come across some nice chunky potatoes. Sliced grilled chorizo sausage might solve the texture issue. It was filling but could also use some seasoning to give it more layers of flavor – fresh chopped parsley or cilantro would help. At $17.50 it did not hold up.

With how popular they were and the high ratings we may have just picked the wrong items on the menu? Next time we will try some of their other options.

Been coming here for well over 20 years. Never disappointed when we come. Cakes are good, lunch salads are awesome, coffee great, and pastries are always on point.

Only critique is drinks are slow sometimes but never disappointing.

The food is fine. I got the eggs and Avocado toast, it was okay.. not any better than what I have had at the nearby hotel. Very pricey too.

The service is pretty good but could be a little improved.

What saves this place is the pastries! They are amazing! Some of the best I have ever eaten. I love their bear claw. Keep doing that well and improve the food and I’d give 5 stars.
