Having Kap’s for the first time I must admit I wish I had found this place earlier.
Don’t let the Central location fool you. Remember it is the old Route 66 and this is the exact type of place I would’ve thought I’d find. The atmosphere inside is inviting and comfortable.
My wife ordered a plated Burrito that she said was very good and definitely filling.
I ordered the huevos rancheros on a corner tortilla, and they do offer a flour tortilla if you prefer. My food was also delicious and the almost deconstructed plating of my meal was a nice touch.
We also ordered 2 “Award winning cinnamon rolls” to go. They were good but I bet if we had ordered them to eat there freshly warmed it would’ve been better!
*You definitely get the bang for your buck on these not just in taste but size!*
All in all it was a great experience.
My wife, myself, and our families will definitely be returning.

We’re always trying new spots! Kap’s looks like something that’s been on Route66 for decades. It’s old school & quaint. The food was decent, the green chile was flavorful without being overly hot. I don’t drink a lot of coffee but would highly recommend the cinnamon coffee if you’re going for a cup. Staff was friendly & attentive. We’ll be back.

Ordered Kap’s skillet potato and eggs and a breakfast tall stack (3 hotcakes). Delicious food! The skillet potato is hash browns and I opted for bacon and ham as my choice of 2 proteins which was nice and savory especially with hot sauce. I would’ve personally liked a softer tortilla but still enjoyable. The hot stacks were soft and fluffy+the syrup was extremely thick and viscous with a generous amount of butter provided. Overall great place for an indulgent and decadent American/New Mexican style breakfast! Server was kind and attentive as well. Seems like a beloved local spot, would come back.

With all the reviews raving about the biscuits and gravy here I thought that I would give them a try… I didn’t realize that they would literally just give me a plate of store bought dinner rolls with canned gravy on top… You would think that it would be homemade. What in the world? Came with rubber bacon, cold hashbrowns and an over easy egg that they managed to overcook. And then for some reason they served me black coffee with cinnamon in it… Disgusting. What a strange experience. My bill came out to be $20. Waste of money. Waitress was nice at least. That’s about it. Most likely never going back here.

DECEMBER 2025: Have made my first two visits to the Diner & found it very pleasant; the food both hot & hearty! Genuine “All-American” Diner fare with “New Mexico spicy” to boot! Great Service, staff was friendly. Relaxed family atmosphere or just a quiet morning even with the Diner more than half full! After dissappointments at Denny’s, the Frontier and the Copper Canyon Cafe …KAP’s is easily my new favorite in ABQ! We’ll done guys!

I was recently staying at the AFB and my son suggested this place before we fly out. The food was sooo delicious. Our waitress (I do not remember her name, older lady) was super nice. She was a very sweet lady. The food was so much, we did not get to finish. It was amazing. The only drawback for me was there was no sweet tea. I guess thats a New Mexico thing b/c they weren’t the only place that didn’t. The area was a little sketchy.

I have long heard good things about this place but never tried it bc of its location. Today we decided to order out. It was great! Everything was packaged nicely to avoid anything getting soggy. The food was delicious. Glad we tried it.

We love Kaps so much and appreciate the many delicious meals they provide for us and our friends. The food is so well made and we always enjoy coming here before a busy weekend of errands. Waited 25 to 30 minutes for our food to come out. All my friends received their food except for me. The waitress says she forgot to put mine order in but she’ll try to hurry up and get it out as quick as possible. It came out half hot half cold. This is my second time here. The first time the food was OK, this time the food was garbage, worse service I have received in a very long time, highly disappointed 4.5 out of 10. It will take me a while to consider coming back here which is a shame. Decent place but needs better servers and more people working. Green chili stew horrible waffles so rubbery you can barely cut them biscuits and gravy cold/hot depending where you ate from in Sprite flat
