Great experience with service, food, and atmosphere. The lobster spring roll was a tasty variation of a spring roll. The lobster was fresh and delicious. The bacon wrapped scallops were also fantastic. All the fish was fresh and presented in creative ways. Can’t wait to return.

Been coming here for over a decade, usually great service and amazing food. Was just in for lunch last week for lunch and my wator was the best, amazing food and hand crafted drinks.
In 10+ years have never had a bad experience until tonight, my waitress was rude and told me they no longer make special request drinks that aren’t on the menu. I have been going here 2-3 times a month for a decade, always order a lemon drop with free filet. She told me they don’t make drinks off the menu anymore, poor service, poor attitude and refused to make a drink they had all the ingredients before and I have been getting for years.
Quality of food, drinks and staff have definitely declined. I miss the old wait staff, this use to be one of my favorites but all the good staff had left. Very unfortunate.

Take out this time, food perfectly prepared and warm when picked uo. but kansaku is one of our favorite restaurants.always great service. Food consistently excellent as is service. Can be noisy when full. We come early , 5:30 or so before real busy.

I ordered to go because they were close to closing and brought a Ramen with tempura vegetables back to my hotel. It was incredibly delicious. The containers they use kept the food very hot, and it was delicious. The noodles, the broth, the tempura, all of it.

I would give 4.5 stars if that is available. Went on Friday night, no line and both indoors and outdoors seating were available. Best thing that I like about was freshness- totally no quality concern when you order sashimi here- which is hard to achieve nowadays. The rainbow Maki and eel nigiri are also very good except the scallop nigiri might not be 5 stars – they’re not the most fresh ones. The cocktails are good but not impressive. Very spacious seating and friendly staff. A bit pricy for students but generally worth the price. Will go again since the sushi options are limited in Evanston.
